                                      Sonoma (Sonoma County):
On Friday, June 30th Lucas and crew went to the town of Sonoma to film a couple of scenes involving the John and Carol story:

-RUSTYS AUTO WRECKING 21481 8th St. East was the location where John walks Carol through the graveyard of cars. This beautiful semi-rural area is the location of many winerys.  Since the late-1990s, MacRostie Winery has occupied the address where the auto wrecking yard once stood..

-RESIDENTIAL HOUSE 563 2nd St. East. The exterior of this home was transformed into Carols house at 231 Ramona, Modesto.

Novato (Marin County):
The canal scenes were filmed at the Marin Memorial Cemetery, near Marin Co. Airport at Gnoss Field.  According to the Daily Production Notes, filming first took place at the canal during the evening of Friday, July 14th.  The notes state the film was under-exposed so the crew returned later to film the scenes during the daytime on Saturday, July 22nd and again on Monday July 31st.   A day-for-night filter was used on the camera lens in order to give the appearance of the scenes taking place at night. Actress, Candy Clark remembers it only took one day to shoot the canal scenes that she was in.  It was extremely hot, she recalls with great fondness, so the production crew gave each actor a beer.
