Sabah is located in the north-eastern tier of the island of Borneo, overlooking the South China Sea. Kota Kinabalu, its capital, serves as the gateway to the various attractions of the state.

Labuan, located in the South China Sea, about 8 Km off the coast of Sabah is a charming island port and Malaysia's only deep-water anchorage. It was declared as federal territory in February 1984.
