Brescia pulled clear of the relegation zone with their ninth win of the season. Forward Dario Hubner gave Brescia the lead from the penalty spot after 10 minutes with his 16th goal of the season. Midfielder Jonathan Bachini made it 2-0 in the 43rd after a good through ball from Roberto Baggio. Gianluca Comotto scored a late consolation goal for Vicenza four minutes from time. With two matches remaining Brescia are eighth from bottom on 40 points. Vicenza are sixth from bottom, level with Lecce and Reggina on 33 points.

Atalanta drew for the 14th time in the league this season. Cristiano Doni scored the equaliser from the penalty spot in the 21st minute after Portuguese international Nuno Gomes had given Fiorentina the lead with a 13th minute header. Atalanta are seventh in the table on 44 points, one more than eighth-placed Fiorentina. Both clubs are still in the hunt for a UEFA Cup berth.

A dramatic injury time equaliser from Frenchman Stephane Dalmat rescued a draw for Inter Milan. Hernan Crespo's glancing header had given Lazio the lead in the 41st minute. Crespo is now the league's joint top scorer with AC Milan's Andriy Shevchenko on 24 goals. Lazio are now third on 66 points, one point behind Juventus and five behind top of the table AS Roma. Inter, sixth on 45 points, are still in the hunt for a UEFA Cup place.

Savo Milosevic equalised for Parma in the 63rd minute after good work by Mboma. Lecce are fifth from bottom on 33 points, level with Reggina and Vicenza. Parma are fourth from top on 56 points.

Chilean Jorge Vargas touched in a Francesco Stovini free kick after 50 minutes to clinch victory for Reggina. Reggina are now fourth from bottom on 33 points, level with Lecce and Vicenza. Bari have already been relegated.

Vincenzo Montella came off the bench to score a 64th minute equaliser for league leaders AS Roma against nine-man AC Milan. AC Milan took the lead with a Francesco Coco header on the stroke of halftime but had Kakha Kaladze and Serginho sent off midway through the second half. Roma's Vincent Candela was also dismissed. With two matches remaining, Roma are top of the table with 71 points, four ahead of Juventus and five in front of third-placed Lazio.

In a relegation fight, Napoli held Udinese to their second home draw of the season. Both sides went forward throughout in search of the win that would have boosted their chances of survival. With two matches left, Udinese are 12th on 35 points. Napoli are third from bottom on 32 points.

Verona earned a precious win in their bid to avoid relegation. Renato Olive gave Bologna a second minute lead but Emiliano Salvetti equalised a minute later. Brazilian Adailton put the home side in front in the 37th minute before an own goal by Bologna defender Giulio Falcone made it 3-1 at half time. Salvetti scored his second of the match two minutes after the break and a Massimo Oddo penalty in the 72nd minute completed the scoring for Verona. Giuseppe Signori (2) and youngster Giacomo Cipriani were also on target for Bologna. Verona are second from bottom on 31 points, one behind Napoli, and two adrift of Lecce, Reggina and Vicenza.
