ACT 28

Aired: 24th April 2004

Sailor Mercury sits there in silence with Sailor Moon passed out in her arms. Kunzite tries to talk to Mercury, but soon just transports all three of them away. Kunzite arrives in the Dark Kingdom, surprised that Mercury is not with him. Meanwhile, Usagi and Ami are in a misty forest, both untransformed. They are near a waterfall. Ami strokes the unconscious Usagi's hair. Ami starts to cry, and Usagi wakes up. Usagi is happy that Ami is back to normal, and though Ami smiles, she cannot bring herself to say anything, and sobs as she hugs Usagi. Kunzite watches this scene (it is displayed on a sort of "screen" on the blade of his sword), and says that the two of them were able to escape from the spell because of Sailor Moon. Sailor Mercury is free from his control - but Usagi and Ami are trapped.

Usagi and Ami walk a little way, and find a group of statues covered in foliage. Ami is still very quiet, but Usagi is her usual cheerful self in insisting that she is okay (she thinks the Moonlight Stick acted as a shield). After a few seconds, Ami notices the black Jewellery Star Bracelet on her wrist, and she rips it off and throws it away. She finally talks: Even though she doesn't remember them, she blames herself for the horrible things she did to Usagi and the others (no matter what Usagi says). Kunzite looks down at a chess board with two white (well, clear) pawns on it. He sets down a twisted-looking black piece next to them, and a monster appears near Usagi and Ami. Usagi finds she can't transform, and struggles to get Ami to run away. The pawns move away from the monster's piece as Usagi runs and practically drags Ami with her.

Human-Luna enters the secret room at Karaoke Crown. Makoto tells her to leave because they are busy, but Rei has realised that she is Luna. Luna explains the situation, and then randomly falls asleep. Needing help from someone who isn't asleep, Rei and Makoto go to seek out Sailor Venus and Artemis. Makoto is surprised to learn that Sailor Venus is Minako, who is busy doing a radio interview. Artemis goes with them to the building where Usagi and Ami had their showdown. Artemis says that if Kunzite sent them through subspace, the entrance shouldn't be closed yet. They enter the building, but instead of the lobby (the room they need to be in), they find themselves somewhere else entirely. They open another door and see a twisted corridor instead of the room they expect. Artemis says there should still be a location that links to the lobby, so they run through and try to find it.

Usagi and Ami notice the statues before them - they have gone in a circle. The monster is ahead of them, so they run the other way. Kunzite puts another piece on the chess board, which causes an earthquake. Later, after rolling down a hill, they find themselves in the same location again. Ami refuses to move, insisting that it's her fault, and that she can't go back because of what she did. She doesn't think they can all be friends anymore, but Usagi says it's that Ami can't trust them. Usagi can only get Ami to go with her by giving her a slap on the bottom, and Ami soon responds by hitting Usagi on the head to get her attention. Ami says that she can't trust the others because the group was falling apart, and it seemed like they weren't friends. As Ami begins to cry, the monster appears again, and the two girls run. Nephrite watches from the shadows as Kunzite puts down another chess piece, apparently to represent the steep, rocky hill they have to climb next. In voiceover, Usagi explains to Ami that all of them are changing, and although they might not become the friends Ami wants, they genuinely do want to bring her back.

At the top of the hill is (of course) the place with the statues. Usagi wonders why they can't leave. Ami thinks that the exit is also the entrance, so they head back to the place they started, with the waterfall. Makoto and Rei check numerous different doors before finally finding the lobby. They arrive at the same time as Usagi and Ami do, and the portal appears simultaneously in both places. They all touch hands and the portal disappears.

With Usagi and Ami are out of the forest, Kunzite appears along with the monster. The four girls transform, and the battle commences. Sailor Venus arrives, attacking Kunzite, and then tells the girls what they should do. Sailor Moon gets out her Moonlight Stick (back from the dead), the other four get out their Sailor Star Tambourines (Sailor Luna appears briefly to give Mercury hers), and then they do a great big combined attack: "Moonlight Attractive Attack!" The monster is blasted into oblivion, and Kunzite teleports away, only to reappear behind Sailor Mercury. He is about to hit her with his sword, but Nephrite has appeared, and blocks with his own sword. He tells Kunzite that he just wanted to get in his way. Kunzite teleports away, and Nephrite looks back at Mercury before doing the same.

Mars, Jupiter and Moon (along with plushie-Luna) stand near Mercury and welcome her back, smiling. She smiles too, thanks them, and says that she's home. They all hug. Venus and Artemis watch from a distance, also smiling.

Important Events:
- While this isn't part of the episode itself, Luna explains in the recap that it was being showered by the power of the Silver Crystal that allowed her to change into a Sailor Guardian.
- Makoto and Rei learn that the girl who talked to them in the previous episode is Luna (well, Rei figures it out on her own).
- Rei tells Makoto that Minako is Sailor Venus. Rei says she thought it would be best if only she knew, and apologises for not saying anything about it. Makoto smiles and says that Luna isn't the only one that's changed.
- After staying quiet to begin with, Ami pours her heart out to Usagi. She blames herself for what happened, even though Usagi insists that she was being manipulated. She doesn't want to go back, because she doesn't think they can all be friends anymore. Usagi says that it's just Ami not trusting the others, but Ami says that this is because the group seemed to be breaking apart. She thought they would get back together, but on a certain level she also thought it was hopeless. It's made clear, though, that Usagi and the others really did want to be friends with Ami, and genuinely did want to bring her back.
- Ami returns to find Makoto, Rei and Luna (and even Minako and Artemis) just as happy as Usagi that she is back. Following the battle, they have a big happy hug scene.
- Kunzite tries to attack Ami, but his attack is blocked by Nephrite, of all people.
