"Lucky Escape"

Steve finds a white mare tied to the gate of Follyfoot, but Lewis Hammond and his father use it to frame Steve for theft. The mare, named 'Tango' by Dora, dances when it hears music, and she believes it may have come from a local circus...

"Odds Against A Win!"
28/08/71 - No.34 to 02/10/71 - No.39
The Colonel's racehorse 'Satan' baulk at jumps, and he has hired jockey Jackie Smike to win the point-to-point race, which Hammond also has a horse in. But Lewis pays a mate to run Smike down, and with the jockey injured, an undeterred Dora trains 'Satan' how to jump and takes his place...

"The Unlikely Stars"

Warrington Foster - actor, playwright and producer - making a documentary on the Battle of Tanby by the ruined Stebbing Castle. Foster needs horse rider extras and offers Dora, Steve and Stryker - along with Lewis - parts in the film. Unknown to any of them, film construction worker Morton is a crook, and is working with his accomplice Cashman to retrieve their loot hidden in the castle...

"The Wild Horse"

Shopping in town, Dora rescues a young boy called Tommy riding a bolted horse 'Brownie'.  Tommy, was bought the horse for his birthday by his father Logan, and it is being kept in the garage. Dora is furious and storms off, and the next day Logan drives up blaming her for stealing the horse. But Dora is innocent and has been thrown by her horse Cobby and lies unconscious...

Major Hollis has set up the Bar-y Ranch, a rodeo holiday centre for people to play at cowboys. Curious, Steve and Dora ride by and meet Hollis, and his star ex-cowboy Greg Calhoun. But Calhoun is in league with his crooked cowhands to rob the rich guests Hollis has attracted...

Dora takes in another unwanted horse, called 'Firefly' by his owner Haworth who bought it for his kids from gypsy Daniel Smith and his dog Scrap, but cannot afford to keep it. But at night Smith steals the horse back and goes on the run...

Dora and Stryker see Lewis scare cart pony 'Daisy' of rag and bone man Joe Bassett into bolting. Bassett is hurt and 'Daisy' is taken to Follyfoot while he recovers. To prevent Bassett suing, Lewis' father Hammond offers to pay Bassett's hospital fees but when Dora reports the incident to the police, Lewis gets some mates to fix her in an accident...

While Dora is away teaching the daughter of Major Graham how to ride, Steve, Stryker and Slugger are charged with looking after 'Tiny' - the major's massive wilful shire horse. 'Tiny' immediately takes over - eating all the other horses' food, proclaiming himself 'king of the castle', and taking a dislike to Slugger! Driven off by the horse, and looking for other work until 'Tiny' is gone, Slugger is lost in mist and falls unconscious into a deep quarry...

"The Caves"

Dora overhears Major Graham discuss 'Snowy', a pit pony born and raised in the underground mines. 'Snowy' is virtually blind, and Dora is astonished to find the other horses, including her own 'Cobby', are picking on him. Meanwhile Steve is helping his mate Dave pony-trekking with a school from the city but two boys, Mark and Johnny, have sneaked of into pothole caves and got lost...

"The Pageant"

For their parts in a local pageant, Dora, Steve and Stryker have cooked up a historical display: Steve playing a Saxon bowman rider, and Ron and Lewis putting on a comedy motorbike joust. Steve is suspicious of Lewis' co-operation, and spies him plotting with Mike in the local cafe to use the joust armour to steal a factory payroll without being recognised. But with no proof to offer the police, Steve tells the others and takes action in his own hands...

"The Reward"

Having seen the Farnum circus show, Steve and Dora witness a sports car force one of the wagons off the road while overtaking. Three animal star acts who flee in terror - 'Winnie' the wonder horse, 'Chappie' the chimpanzee and 'Bernie' the bloodhound. 'Bernie' is spotted by Dora and Steve, but the chimp and horse are found by Lewis. Seeing the reward in the paper, Lewis decides to hide them in the hope it continues to go up...

"The Escapee"

A convict called Mulvaney breaks jail and steals Steve's horse to make his getaway. His left arm broken, Mulvaney finds a homestead owned by vet Sullivan, and kidnaps him to fix the injury. But one of the horses at Follyfoot, 'Sultan', is very sick and Dora rides to the vet to fetch help...

 "The Frame-Up"
12/08/72 - No.33 to 05/08/72 - No.41
Slugger accidentally drops a drum of horse disinfectant into the passing horsebox of Brigadier Blyth. Steve rescues the racehorse 'Bright Sabre' from the dangerous leaking fumes, but the furious Brigadier blames Slugger for the whole incident. When a fire at Blyth's place means 'Bright Sabre' has to be stabled at Follyfoot, the Brigadier picks a fight with Slugger, who storms off. After the racehorse is nearly poisoned by baneweed, and Blyth's jockey is beaten up, clues left each time implicate Slugger as responsible, but he is being held by rival Sefton and his jockey Nipper, and framed for the crimes...
