My Rating:

Roger- A S.W.A.T. team member who flees with the others to find sanctuary from the zombie plague. He is bitten by one of the undead, becomes a zombie, and is shot by Peter.

Peter- Ken Foree! A fellow S.W.A.T. team member who escapes with Roger and the others. The only smart person in this film. He escapes the zombie infested mall with Francine via a helicopter.

Stephen- The one known as "Flyboy." He's always making stupid mistakes and suffers for them dearly in the end (bitten by zombies, becomes a zombie, shot by Peter).

Francine- Stephen's fiance`, next to Peter she's the only person with a good head on their shoulders. Escapes with Peter in a helicopter.

The Scavengers- An army of bikers and thieves (led by Tom Savini) that invade the mall. They're armed with sledge hammers, guns, knives, swords, battle axes, and anything else you can think of. Several of them get munched by the zombies.

The Zombies- The zombie epidemic that began in Night of the Living Dead, has expanded world -wide. But there's still no answer as ttto why the recently deceased are rising out of their graves.

Though it lacks the frights and thrills of the original Night of the Living Dead (and it's remake), "Dawn of the Dead" is just as fun and enjoyable to watch. The film opens at a television station. Most of the studio crew is running off while the others are desperately trying to keep announcements and such running on the air. One of the workers, Francine, leaves with her fiance` Stephen, in a helicopter. As the two of them fly to a police dock to refuel the aircraft, the movie skips to an apartment complex where the landlord and the tenants have sealed themselves, and many a living corpse, inside. Roger and Peter are two of the many S.W.A.T. team members sent in to "clean up." After 10 minutes of almost complete non-stop violence, the two of them leave to meet up with Stephen and Francine.
They all meet at the police dock and leave after a run in with some other fleeing cops. After a couple hours, the group lands in an abandoned airstrip. Of course they all have encounters with zombies and escape unharmed. Eventually they make it to a large shopping mall filled with an army of ravenous zombies. They decide that it would be a great idea to just stay in the mall and hold out against the zombie hordes outside. So they begin to slowly take over the mall. They close off all the exits and entrances, kill all of the zombies, and clean the place up. While blocking the outside entrances with large trucks, Roger is bitten by several zombies, later becomes one, and is shot by Peter. Well after a week (not quite sure of how long the time lapse was, if in fact there was a time lapse) or so, the fortified mall is discovered by maruading Scavengers.
This unruly army of bikers and thieves invades the mall and loots anything and everything. Stephen thinks bitterly of this and says "We took it, it's ours!" and declares war on the scavengers. So he and Peter shoot it out with the scavengers while more and more zombies flood the mall. Peter takes out the leader of the raiders (Tom Savini!). But meanwhile, poor Stephen gets munched by zombies on an elevator (a similar scene occurs twice in Night of the Zombies but that movie isn't even worthy of comparison!). Stephen becomes a zombie and leads his fellow undead pals to the hiding place of Peter and Francine. Cutting right to the chase, zombie Stephen is killed, Peter then appears to be preparing to commit suicide but instead shoots a zombie and climbs up to the roof. And so Peter and Francine (who is pregnant with Stephen's child) escape in the helicopter and head towards an uncertain future.

Peter: "Are any of you leaving people behind?"
Francine: "An ex-husband."
Roger: "An ex-wife."
Stephen: "You Peter?"
Peter: "Some brothers!"

Francine: "Spam."
Roger: "Did you bring a can opener?"
Francine: "No, I guess I didn't."
Roger: "Then don't knock it, it's got it's own key."

Francine: "Damn you mother f*@#ing sons of bitches!"

Peter: "...when there's no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth."
