Akina always insists on producing her own works. She would design the costumes, accessories, hair style and even dance steps to fully express her songs. Let's go through her various hairstyles over the years:
As there would be too much graphics if I put everything in a page, I've split them into 3 parts. This is the first part (1990 ~ present).
Akina's image for her come back single - "Dear Friend". She cut and permed her hair. In addition, she had a good tan during her holiday at Hawaii.
"Uta Hime" ~ the perfect discription for Akina - the singer. Sadly, she just couldn't get over her past. This is one of my favourite albums. Akina looked ayashii .
This should be in 1997. Akina had strips of blue hair. She seemed to be following the trend blindly during this period.

But she's dangerously thin.

1998(?) Akina grew her hair long again.
Dolly look. This is from one of  her rare interviews with magazine in Mar 1999. Akina dislikes the mass media and hardly grants interview these days. That is one of the reasons why her popularity plunged.
Dec 1999. Her first public appearance after being fired by her recording company. She sang at a charity event that was to help Taiwanese earthquake victims - "Heart Aid Taiwan".
Akina just before her 20th anniversary concert tour in 2001. A cheerful Akina is the best!
