Akina around the time
she released her 7th album - "Bitter and Sweet". Her hair was layered. |
|
|
1985 marked the start
of Akina's golden period. With this hair do, she looks more mature. After
all, she turned 20 in 1985. This was taken for her Record Taisho Award
winning single - "Meu Amor e....". |

|
Akina permed her hair.
During this period, she wore black most of the time. I remember she had
a little dog named Kenta. It's a birthday present from the CEO of her producing
company. |

This is the image she
designed for her second Record Taisho Award winning single - "Desire".
As she wore the wig all the time, some fans thought she had cut her hair
and had their hair cut too. |
|
|
This is for a CM. She
seemed to like to wear wigs in the mid 1980s. She looked like a missy,
unlike her previous street-wise, tsuppari image. |

Akina was singing "Fin"(?)
This time, she really had her hair cut and permed. Only recently did I
realised that "Fin" means "Finish" in Spanish. |
|
|
This was taken during
one of the award giving session. Akina wore a pearly white dress. Simply
elegant! |
|
|
Akina in New York! This
is from her photo book - "Cross My Palm", which was on sale with her same
titled English album. This photo was taken sometime in late 1986, early
1987. It was winter in USA. |

"Tango Noir". She bunned
up her hair. I simply love her fantastic stage performance (costume and
dance steps and all to go with her song). Actually she twisted her waist
once when performing this song. |
|
|
"Nampa Sen". Her biggest
hint to her fans that her romance was on the rock. I love her off-shoulder
black woolly dress. |
|
|
This is from Akina's fashion
book - "Cruise". This book was part of the marketing strategy for Akina's
last album (Cruise) before her suicide attempt in 1989. She wore her hair
to her waist. |
