This car was advertised in a local paper. I remember the date was July 4 1997. I gave him $500 and he wanted $900. They had two people and we had three. The time approximately midnight. One friend told me not to give more than $500 while the other checked the car and paper. I asked " Is the title OK? " All I got was "Not Sure". I gave him a final offer of $750 thinking the parts on the car are worth that much anyway. He gave me the keys and counted the cash. The trip home was scary since lots of cops were out that night. The muffler on this car was so loud that I thought I was going to get pull over when a patrol car followed me. Anyway I was able to drive the car home.

The engine is a L18 with 219 head and later I found out it was built by Troy at the 510 Parts Outlet. Dual carbs are 44MM Mikunis. The car also had a roll bar and Z 5 speed. The first thing that I did was to change the oil. While I was looking around I found a crack in the front engine frame rail. A closer look showed that the car had hit something pretty hard to push the whole left side fireway back a bit and caused the crack in the frame.

I talked to Troy at The 510 Parts Outlet one time about the damage and he told me that the alignment will never be right so I deceided the best thing to do is to pull all the parts and put them in another 510.

From this car I got an engine, dual carbs, Z 5 speed, roll bar, 73 rear glass, a set 13x7 Libres wheels, front and rear Tokico shocks, front and rear anti-sway bars, and other misc parts. Too bad this 1973 510 couldn't be saved.
