This is a picture of the 510 when I first bought it from a friend. He pulled some performance parts off the car and the car sat in his drive way for about six months.
I didn't know much about 510 at the time except that they look kind of cool.
The body was not in very good shape. It had bubble flares before but the flares were pulled off and sold.
This car was a 1969 but I got the plates and papers from a 1973 and transformed it into a 1973. This made the smog check a bit easier.
I started to clean up the car and before I knew it, everything was off.
I removed everything in the engine compartment. I tried to sand the old finish away but found it impossible.
I decided to have the car sand blasted to clean everything off. The battery tray was removed and the notch filled.
The interior was sand blasted also.
The front flares came as a fender and were riveted on to the car. The rear flares took hours of filling and sanding. It came out pretty good for a first time body worker.
I saw it again at a swap meet. I was happy to see it.
