by H. David Blalock Review by Barry Hunter, Baryon Online Magazine |
In the days before Atlantis fell, House Thran took sides with the Elves(Kel) and Dwarves(Telmet) against House Suum and was exiled for 400 years. This book is the story of their return to their home lands and the obstructions they have to overcome.
Andalarn Thran has inherited the power of his ancestors and he must learn to control it as he seeks aid from the Kel ad the Telmet to fight House Suum who have started hostilities again in an attempt to become the prime power on the island of Adylonis.
Blalock has written an interesting tale of political intrigue, uneasy alliances, and character growth as he lays the framework for future tales in this series. Im not going to compare this to Tolkien, but I would compare it to the works of David Eddings and Robert Jordan. Its well told and enjoyable and Im looking forward to the next volume of the series.
