Rincewind the Wizzard

Written by Yasmin Mazur

Rincewind is my favorite character from the discworld. He is a wizard, theoretically. In reality he isn't very good at magic. In fact, he can't perform any spells, and nobody actually knows why or how he got into the Unseen University of Ankh-Morpork in the first place.
Rincewind is a peace loving man and prefers quiet, boring life. Of course, he doesn't get much peace or quiet, but on those rear moments, he used to be the assistant librarian at the university [the librarian himself, by the way, is an orangutan]. Lately Rincewind was appointed the Professor of Cruel and Unusual Geography, although he isn't entitled to join the eight senior wizards of the UU.
Rincewind is a very good linguist [he can scream for mercy in 19 languages, and just scream in another 44], an excellent runner and he has an over developed survival instinct. He is also responsible for saving the discworld at least 4 times and developing the human race along with the librarian in the Roundworld [our world].
In the end of "The Light Fantastic", TwoFlower gives Rincewind the magic wooden trunk, known as the horror of the discworld or the Luggage. The Luggage is made of sapient pine tree and is very loyal to his owner, Rincewind. It follows him everywhere, from the beginning of time and space to hell itself, including other dimensions, and protects him from the people who want to kill him [a lot of people] by eating them, savaging them, and jumping up and down on what's left after that.
Rincewind is the first hero [or coward] in the discworld series and his not-so-heroic qualities make him one of the funniest characters that populate the discworld.
