Maggie baptism was performed by Father Neil Ryan at Notre Dame's Log Chapel on December 22, 2002. The ceremony was truly beautiful. I actually cried through almost the whole thing. Not only was I moved by the enormity of bringing our daughter into the Catholic Church, but it was another one of those moments where I was reminded of just how lucky and blessed I am to be the mother of this beautiful little girl. |

Maggie's beautiful baptismal gown. The gown is a family heirloom. My maternal greatgrandmother, a seamstress, made it for my Aunt Cindy's baptism. Since then, every child in the family has been baptized in it. |

Although she was an absolute angel during the ceremony itself (she slept through ALL of it, even the water), she was clearly less than thrilled to be put in the gown. |

In her carrier, ready to go. Getting the straps around the gown was a real challenge, though! |

Maggie being anointed with oil and then with water. Amazingly, she only flinched briefly when the water was poured on her, and then continued to sleep! |

I love these two pictures because they are both unposed and yet they capture the emotions I was feeling so well. (Thanks, Tony, for taking such great pictures for us during the ceremony with our camera!) Although it is somewhat difficult to tell in this small version of the picture, I am crying tears of joy in the left photo. I think the one on the right speaks for itself. |
