The Vickers Valkyr was originally conceived as the BDX Mk 2. It is an upgrade of the BDX (Timoney Mk V) with a re-designed front hull, a diesel engine and some improvements to it's suspension. It was proposed as a light APC for the British Army, who eventually opted for the far inferior, and cheaper, Saxon APC. It did achieve an export order from Kuwait, although the Iraqi invasion and subsequent Gulf War put a stop to any further orders. The Valkyr in two versions, an APC and a Fire Support Vehicle (FSV). The FSV variant was slightly lower than the APC and mounted a Cockrell Mk. 3 90mm anti-tank gun. |
