Background
The Spinner is the first of a new concept in AFV design for the United States Army's Future Combat System. It is an unmanned combat vehicle capable of performing a variety of missions, either armed or unarmed.

While for many years the concept of Unmanned Arial Vehicles have been with us, the use of land systems has been limited to small robotic vehicles for bomb disposal tasks.

The National Robotics Engineering Consortium (NREC) of Carnegie Mellon University works with sub-contractors, Boeing, PEI Electronics-Integrated Defense Technologies, Timoney Technology, and UQM Technologies.

Timoney is responsible for the vehicles unique invertible suspension and wheel drive units which gives the Spinner the ability to operate upside down after rollover.

It is should be noted that Timoney is the only non-U.S. partner in the venture demonstrating, once again, it's leadership in the field of high mobility suspension systems and vehicles.
