| Many thanks to all those who helped us so much with our fund raising activities during 2004. The good news is that we managed to reach our grand total after the last activity which was bagpacking in ASDA, Bromborough. A great effort from all those who came along and worked so hard. So that's it for now. We reached our goal and all we have to do now is go out to India & Sri Lanka and help in the projects allocated to us. We have now got the details of the first project in India: Project Title: PEACE CHILD INDIA Dates: 9 Jan - 20 Mar 2005 Summary: The Peace Child foundation works to promote issues affecting young people in India through its "Be the Change Progamme". Its field office works in the most needed areas across a wide variety of projects, including human rights, education, the environment and substance abuse. So far, 15 projects have been developed under the progamme. We will give help across a wide variety of activities, working alongside Indian counterparts and getting involved in all aspects of project monitoring and liaison between different partners involved in the project. We may also help with teaching English, helping in the computer department, teaching as well as updating the website and organising work schedules. |
| TSUNAMI NEWS Have just read emails from our organiser i-to-i stating that none of their current projects nor any volunteers had been affected by the disaster. Our first project is in central India and so is well away from the coastal problems but there may be some knock-on effects that may change details. Even the Sri Lanka projects are still on and ours doesn't start for 6 months anyway - but in the great scheme of things it seems a bit churlish to worry about our little problems. We just hope we can be of some practical use whatever we end up doing. |
