ISC Rush/Pledging Rules
A Heidelberg woman wishing to join a society (women's Greek organization), which is under the jurisdiction of the Intersociety Council may not be or have been a member of another Greek organization at Heidelberg College. The term "member" denotes a fully initiated member who has fulfilled the membership requirements of any aforementioned groups.
To be eligible fo affliation into a society an individual:
- Must have completed at least one semester of full-time academic work on the Heidelberg College campus, not including a summer session.
- Must be a full-time student at the time of pledging.
- Must have attained a 2.25 semester and cumulative grade point average. NC grades will be counted as an F and averaged into your GPA.
Note: All non-Greek women are eligible to participate in the following recruitment activities: Rotationals and Teas. Those who have not attained a 2.25 semester or cumulative GPA are ineligible to participate in Preference Parties.
What to do during rush:
- Attend Rotationals
- Attend at least two Teas. You are encouraged to attend all four Teas in order to make the best decision about which group is right for you.
- Attend at least one or no more than two Preference Parties.
- If a perspective member withdraws from rush, she must notify her Rush Counselors prior to the function. The Rush Counselor will contact the ISC Rush Chair and the ISC President to notify each of them of the excuse. The Rush Counselor will also notify any groups involved.
During rush, there will be no stealing of glassware or clothing articles. If any item(s) are marked "do not take" they are also, not permitted to be stolen. The rushee(s) must leave their initials when stealing items and are responsible for the return of these items to their owners.
ISC Bid Procedures
In order to affiliate/pledge with any society, you must fulfill the society rush requirements and abide by all of the rush rules associated with the Intersociety Council.
All individuals interested in affiliating/pledging a women's society must fill out a bid/preference card on either Tuesday, January 27th, 2004 between 6pm and 9pm in Campus Center 315 or Wednesday, January 28th, 2004 between 11am and 4pm in Campus Center 220. A non-refundable $10.00 bid fee will also be due at the time of bid/preference card signing.
Please note that all individuals who have filled out a bid/preference card must also attend the Hazing Seminar on January 29th.
Each society will receive a list of those students who have indicated that society as their first choice. Decisions will be made on new members, and you will be notified on Thursday, January 29th, 2004 by 6:00pm. Please remember to attend the Hazing Seminar since it is mandatory to pledge. The Hazing Seminar is on January 29th, 2004 in Rickley Chapel at 8pm.
The pledging period will begin on Sunday, February 1st, 2004 at the time designated by your group. The last day of pledging will be Saturday, February 21st, 2004.
