All for One - the First Co-op Only Episode
Single-player/deathmatch version (a41_spdm.wad)
Chris Hill May 26, 1995
Now this is an interesting set of levels. This is a single player version of All for One, a co-op episode. The level design is interesting, and feels different from most other levels. While the design doesn't always make sense, in some places it does, and the level progression definitely makes sense; in most of the levels, the very beginning is the very end of the previous level. There is also some neat architecture in some levels; there's one cool trick I still haven't figure out. The texturing theme is always adhered to. But unfortunately, somehow a lot of the custom textures got FUBARed, and look very weird. The coolness of these levels is hampered by the fact that in some levels, there are very annoying mazes. Do yourself a favor and noclip through the one in M2. I couldn't even figure out how to get past one teleporter maze in M9. M6 and M8 are also perhaps too big. Also, since it's meant for four players, puzzles which are fine with four people become very tedious with only one. Overall, you should definitely check this out-but be prepared for some serious tedium.

Another Awsome DOOM PWAD (E2M1) (AA21Doom.wad) May 6, 1995
I was pretty worried just from the title, and of course, I was right. Large, open, bad off-grid architecture; random, bad, misaligned texturing; mediocre action. It includes some of those sounds floating around on the net back then that stopped being cool a long time ago. Absolutely nothing redeeming about this WAD.

Another Awsome DOOM PWAD (E2M2) (AA22Doom.wad) May 15, 1994
The level design here is so far above the other Awsome WAD its not even funny. Sadly, its still not particularly good. The level is fairly small, made up of a bunch of marble areas connected to each other. Action is alright. Sadly, I couldnt help escape the feeling that every area Id already seen in other levels. Fairly derivative. Also, I got stuck and didnt have the patience to find that damn yellow key. So, fans of offbeat design  might like it, but otherwise:

Aarrghh! Oleg Tolstkhine June 9, 1994
So we have here an E1 replacement, except it only actually replaces four levels. Levels 4-7 are just placeholders. The first level is mostly a bunch of teleporter links transporting you to rooms often large and open, but on the whole lacking in the architecture department. Texturing is pretty mediocre throughout the whole thing. The second is the best of the bunch. Architcture is still too open, but it has some good points, including some nice nifty teleporting enemies, a barrel trick which even I thought was kinda cool (must have been playing
barrel2.wad), and a few classic E1-style moments. The secret level sucks; it is rather difficult with no real reward. The final level is a typical small ending level, but it serves its purpose. Action is fairly tough throughout. For E1M2, 3.5/5, but for the whole thing, only 3/5. If you do choose to play it, skip the secret level.
The Abandoned Barracks (ab_barr.wad) Johnny Cheng February 20, 1995
Basically this level is a big open area filled with hundreds of columns, "hills" that look like ziggurats, and empty, small square buildings. There's a little more but that's about it. It's actually kinda tough with a good amount of enemies and little ammo. For some reason I liked this wad, so I'm gonna give it a
3.5/5.
A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood? (abditn.wad) GEM December 31, 1995
A "city" wad with one building, random texturing, too much health and ammo, essential doors that are hidden, and mediocre action.

Abyss Avery Lodato May 7, 1994
Random structure and texturing, but the map itself is pretty fun. It's also somewhat non-linear, which is cool. Overall, not a great map, but not a bad one either.

Academy Tony Bruno July 1, 1995
A military training academy with a wood theme. (And the occasional marble.) Right. Gameplay is mediocre, and the "academy" only consists of a dining hall. The only reason to download this is to check out the included
greatmus.wad, which ain't in the archives. (There is a file named greatmus.wad, but it's not the one in here.) 3/5
ACastle2 Dwight "Keoki" Victor May 18, 1994
A small castle WAD that would look much better under a red sky, so switch it to E3M1. Heh, that's about it.

PC Zone Doom Level Creation Competition - The Finalists '94 (ace_dwf.wad) September 4, 1995
This is a collection of 25 WADs made for a competition, evidently. No text files were included. Of these, I only found DAVES2ND in the archives. So I won't be reviewing that one right now.
--Bunker July 7, 1994
This WAD, believe it or not, actually takes place in a bunker of sorts. Texturing is somewhat random, but structure is pretty good. Unfortunately the many small rooms are under-detailed, but hey, it's 1994, what can you expect? Gameplay gets pretty easy once you're handed a plasma rifle with lots of ammo, but it's still pretty fun. The level is actually pretty short. A fun little WAD overall.

--Carnage June 30, 1994
Randomly structured, randomly textured, but overall not too bad. There's a couple of mean-spirited traps in there.

--Chaos July 2, 1994
Wow, this level is short. It's that slimy gray for one part, and marble/wood for the rest. Uh, I guess that's it.

--Comp July 6, 1994
Another short WAD, again random in design and structure. Make sure you find the chaingun before you hit the four-way intersection. I enjoyed playing it.

--DE2106 June 21, 1994
This level is in a  marble and wood theme, except for the very end. Design is random. The rooms are somewhat bigger than they perhaps should be (though nowhere near as big as 2Bosses), which gets kinda annoying. The action is okay.
3/5
--Deus July 4, 1994
This level cut and pastes some retextured areas from levels of the original Doom, and throws in some interconnecting areas. (The original stuff outweighs the copied stuff.) Texturing and structure are random. Gameplay is somewhat boring.
3/5
--Domain June 21, 1994
This level takes place in a base (which goes through several different texturing styles) which has been partially infested by Hell. The Hell part is marble and wood. Structure is basically random, but it all comes together eventually, which is cool. Action is good, somewhat non-linear, and it has one of the coolest crushers I've ever seen. Oh, and if you happen to find a plasma rifle, feel free to use it, 'cause you won't need it for anything in particular. Check it out.
4/5
--DrDoom11 July 2, 1994
Random texturing and structure, and there is an essential hidden door, but otherwise not too bad.
3/5
--E1L3 Jim Greek or Jreek July 5, 1994
An E1 themed level with bad and random design, and random texturing (within the confines of E1). The beginning area is kinda neat, so nostalgia hunters may want to check it out for that.
