Medium-sized level, off-grid, random and weird texturing, somewhat randomly designed, bad architecture, alright but-of-the-somewhat-pointless action. Totally skippable.

If random texturing, large empty rooms, and gratuitous Cyberdemon use are your thing, enjoy. The rest of us will stay away from this WAD. To be fair, it is the author's first level, and he does warn us. We've all been there, most of us just have the courtesy not to actually release 'em.

Fava Beans (01Fava.wad) Sean Birkel August 28, 1995
A WAD that really needs no introduction. Damn good E1 replacement. Highly recommended for fans of E1.

Shit for Doom (01shit.wad) Sean Birkel March 23, 1996
An unfinished level influenced by E1M7, by the author of Fava Beans. E1 addicts may want to check it out, but everyone else will probably just want to avoid it. Only takes about a minute to go through, though.

What?! (02what.wad) George McGlauflin II August 19, 1995
A more-or-less random E3 "themed" level. Nostalgia hunters only.

10 Years of Doom (10years.wad) Darren Finch (a.k.a. Doom_Dude) December 10, 2003
A really cool WAD.  It spells out "10 Years of Doom" along with connecting areas, though it's done well, and you won't be able what letter you're in. Has a wood/marble gothic theme (like E4) and the architecture is quite nice. Action is good, and it will take you a little while to go through. It executes what it sets out to do perfectly (and in only a scant four days!), looks good, is fun, and Hell, it's a cool birthday present for Doom, so I'm gonna give it a
5/5.

A mostly E1 themed level with completely random structure. Has one good trap, and an ending area oft copied in its time; might want to download to see what I mean there. An otherwise forgettable map, nostalgia hunters only.

Fort Knocks PWAD (11FORTKO.WAD) Guy Stockie October 10, 1994
FunDuke (the uploader) notes that this is fairly large for a 1994 WAD, but hes nuts; its actually somewhat small. At any rate, this actually turned out to be pretty fun. Its basically your typical fort WAD, but the architecture is better than average and the action is pretty good too, though a bit much health. Most importantly, the level design is good and fun; texturing is mostly GSTONE gets infested by technology with the usual randomness. Overall, pretty fun, and given its size, worth a quick romp through.

A pretty crappy map which has been copied a lot (anyone who's played the Maximum files knows what I mean). Might be interesting to Maximum veterans, otherwise avoid it.

I played this a long time ago in the Maximum files. Somewhat interesting, but basically crap. Totally random design and texturing. Though it is supposed to be for Deathmatch. Maximum veterans only, methinks.

Burg Nideck v1.1 (11NIDECK.WAD) Klaus Breuer August 4, 1994
A large-ish "castle" wad. This is in the style of those huge, vast, random levels of yesteryear. It has four square rooms with some space on the outside and a big-ass courtyard in the middle. As I mentioned, the rooms are completely random in texture styling and structure, and the action is pretty boring too. It's somewhat interesting so you might want to make a quick run through it.

A strikingly crappy map. It consists of teleporting around randomly, going through short hallways, then teleporting again. You'll snag a key or two along the way. After about five minutes I decided to give up. Really, just do yourself a favor and stay away.

1500AD Jaime Landauer January 29, 1995
More-or-less random themed and structured level, with too much ooze. Gameplay ain't really good either, with a group of Barons seemingly impossible to get past, for example. Nostalgia hunters only.

The first PWAD I ever played, so I'm somewhat biased. Has some cool Star Wars music, and a pretty neat sky. Though the texturing and structure are totally random, it has some really neat parts. Unfortunately, there's one part I could never figure out. A classic from the olden days, you might want to check it out, especially if you're nostalgia hunting.

If you like wandering around randomly in a maze pushing on doors, this is *the* wad for you.

Large empty rooms with multiple doors. That's as far as I went before I decided to give up. Really, stay away.

Satan's Castle (1fiffiy2.wad) Resident Expert of Leominster  a.k.a. REoL July 23, 1994
Starts out with a nice gothic marble theme (beginning area is actually pretty cool) but quickly decays into randomness, texture and structure-wise.

The Under Arms 5-star hotel (1fiffy3.wad) Expert of Leominster  a.k.a. REoL August 11, 1994
This one takes place in a hotel, and although Hell Hotel did a much better job, the basics of a hotel are here. Dining hall, rooms, pool, etc. The texturing is somewhat consistent. There's also a metric ton of monsters, and only the shotgun's available. This might make it interesting for challenge seekers, but otherwise it's just mediocre.

The Pit (1fiffy4.wad) Resident Expert of Leominster  a.k.a. REoL September 5, 1994
Random design, bad action.

St. Lucifer's Church (1fiffy5.wad) Resident Expert of Leominster  a.k.a. REoL October 9, 1994
Takes place inside a gothic Church. The beginning is pretty nice, but once inside the texturing gets random, you start pressing switches, and then I got stuck.
