Tip of the Week 38
 

Not only may various verbs be used with 'fàilte', but the welcome may also be qualified e.g. 'hearty', warm' etc.
 
cuir fàilte air = 'put a welcome upon'
 
Chuir e fàilte orm ann an Gàidhlig
He welcomed me in Gaelic.
 
Chuir mi fàilte mhòr air na bha e ag ràdh.
I greatly welcomed what he was saying.
 
Is cinnteach gun cuireadh mòran fàilte bhlàth air obair de'n t-seòrsa.
It's certain that many would put a warm welcome on work of the kind.
= Many would certainly warmly welcome such work.
 
Faigh fàilte = get / receive a welcome
Gheibh thu fàilte 'sa' Ghàidhlig.
You will be welcomed in Gaelic.
 
Fhuair sinn fàilte chridheil bho muinntir a' bhaile.
We received a hearty welcome from the townspeople.
 
tha fàilte air = [...] is welcome
 
Bidh fàilte mhór air ann an Leòdhas.
It will be greatly welcome in Lewis.
 
And note:
Bha fàilte agus blàths romhainn anns gach àite.
There was welcome and warmth awaiting us everywhere. (lit. before us)

Is i a' Ghàidhlig Cànan mo Dhùthcha.
