Exponents Let's say you need to find 12 squared. You would type: 12^2 or 122 and either way, the answer is "144". Now, if you needed 4 cubed, you'd type: 4^3 and press enter. (Answer=64). We know the square-root key ([2nd], [x2]) and a number gives the square root, but what about a cube root? That is found in the... Catalog You access the catalog by pressing [2nd], [CUSTOM] and then choosing "CATLG", [F1]. Now, you can press any key with a blue letter above it to go to that letter in the list. Press [A]. Now, press and hold the UP key until the cursor is selecting the x-root symbol. It's a small x in front of the square-root. With it selected, press ENTER. The symbol is pasted to the screen. ![]() ![]() You just selected something from the catalog. First, clear the screen. Now, type in 3, for CUBED root. Now go back into the catalog and choose the cube-root function. When it is pasted on the screen, type a number, such as 27 and press enter.
