Torn Between Two
Author: Passionstime
Three years of being happily married to the man she love and still can’t get over the fact that he loves her only.
“Eric, look at Madeline, she’s so pretty, isn’t she?” Kay said while holding her precious daughter.
“Yes, she is . . . Kay, you have given me the most amazing gift a man could ever desired for . . . I love our baby girl so much.” He smiled and kissed Kay sweetly.
“I hope you love me as much, too . . .” Kay replied jokingly. “Of course, I do. No one can take your place. You are an extraordinary woman, sweetness.”
Kay blushed at his remark which is totally sweet and sincere to her ears. Kay was stunned to hear that someone is knocking on her door.
“Ethan? Theresa? Simone? What are you guys doing here?” She asked after she had opened the door.
“We came to see you and your hubby.” Simone gave her a hug.
“How are you, sis?” Ethan questioned out of concern.
“I’m good . . . hey Theresa.” Kay gave a transitory smile.
“Hey, is this my niece?” Theresa lifted Madeline in her arms and rocked her tenderly.
“My, how you have gotten so big?” Theresa kissed the little girl’s chubby cheek.
“Ethan, I can’t wait until we have our baby . . . look at her–she is so adorable.”
Theresa fell in love with Kay’s daughter. Ethan nodded agreeably. Eric was a little surprise to see all of Kay’s friends here in their mansion.
“What’s up, everybody.” His green eyes flashed at them.
“Hey, Eric . . .” They all replied. Kay saw Simone sitting by herself and dragged her into the kitchen.
“What is it, Kay?” Simone could feel it coming.
“Gee, Simone . . . I didn’t know it was such a crime to ask how my best friend is doing?” Kay retorted bitterly.
“Still, the mean old Kay that I once knew . . . what is it you want?” Simone queried wearily.
“Have you seen Miguel and Charity?” Kay finally let the words escape from her lips. “I knew it!” Simone blurted out.
“Come on, Simone . . . don’t be like this . . .”
“Kay. Don’t you do this! I thought you were over Miguel?!” She narrowed her eyes at Kay.
“Don’t give me the third degree, Simone. I’m just curious; about Miguel. Is it a crime to be concerned about a guy I was once in love with?” Kay scrutinized her best friend’s wary expression.
“I guess not.” Simone sighed and rolled her eyes.
“What do you want to know?” Simone softened a bit.
“How are they doing? Do they have any children?” Kay is dying to know. Simone blinked at her wildly.
“Since you’re that desperate to know, I’ll tell you. Miguel and Charity do have a child; they have a son. He’s about as old as your daughter . . .”
Kay paced the floor in concentration.
“Charity and I had our babies at the same time? Where have I been?” She tested herself blankly. Simone stared at her in astonishment.
“Kay, why does that seem to surprise you?” She grilled Kay.
“Nothing.” She casually shrugged.
“I just . . . didn’t know.” She almost hesitated on her words.
“Kay Bennett-Williams, you still haven’t changed–you’re still up to mischief–aren’t you?” Simone interrogated.
“Simone, give it a rest with playing detective, will you?” Kay threw her hands in the air, feeling exhausted.
“Sorry, Kay. Didn’t mean to push it, but I know you like a book and you can’t fool me and deep down you know it.”
Simone accentuated. “I apologize if I can’t help the fact that my cousin live such a bland lifestyle. I mean, god, look at her clothes? They’re butt ugly.”
She scoffed. Simone shook her head in disbelief and pretend she didn’t hear Kay’s last comment; rude comment.
“Out with the old and in with the new. Isn’t that the old saying?” Kay lifted a brow at her skeptical friend. Eric walked in.
“Hey, Eric.” Kay jumped out of her skin. “Baby, are you all right?” He looked at her wide eyed.
“I’m fine.” her voice was barely audible.
“I’ll just leave you two alone, it looks like you two want to have quality time.” Simone insinuated they need time to themselves. Kay shook her head quickly, not wanting for Simone to leave so soon.
“Seems like Simone knew what she was doing.” Eric wrapped his arms around her tenderly.
“Eric, what is it?” Kay appeared to be annoyed.
“No,” once again her voice was inaudible. “I’m sorry, Eric. I don’t want you to think I’m avoiding you . . .” She told him after facing him.
Eric moved away from her and lurked through the refrigerator.
“Eric? You’re not angry, are you?” Kay demanded for him to answer. A reluctant Eric refused to reply.
“Eric, I didn’t mean–” he chopped her off.
“Kay, save it for someone else . . . it’s obvious that you want to be by yourself and I’ll grant your wish. I’ll see you later. I have business to attend to.” Eric stated coldly, not looking at her when he walked out of the kitchen.
“Damn it, Kay! Why the hell did you do that?” She is frustrated with herself. Obviously, Eric knows her too well; he knows her every motive. What is there not to know about his wife? She’s everything he could describe her to be: cold, malignant, and seductive. Eric can’t help he loves that about her. What’s a man to do? Kay observed the kitchen and went to talk to the others as she’d seen them in the foyer. “ . . . you guys leaving so soon?” Kay wondered, walking towards them.
“Yes, Kay . . . we’re taking off . . . we’ll see you around.”
Ethan kissed his sister and niece on the cheek goodbye. Theresa and Simone gave Kay a hug as she did the same in return. After saying their goodbyes. Kay locked the door when the maid walked in.
“Mrs. Williams? Ready for me to take Madeline upstairs for you?” She briefly smiled. Kay nodded and followed the maid upstairs.
“Thanks, Ashley. I’ll take it from here . . .” Kay watched Ashley departing from her daughter’s room and she walked up to Madeline’s bed.
“You know Mommy loves you, right?” Kay asked her exuberant daughter who is glowing so brightly.
“Yes, Mommy. Are you going to read me a bed time story?” The innocent child questioned while looking into her mother’s loving eyes.
“Better yet, Mommy is going to tell you a story from the top of her head. Would my precious daughter like that?”
Kay picked her up and laid the child in her lap and started telling the story.
Later on, Kay smiled to herself, watching her daughter resting so peacefully. She turned off the lights and shut her daughter’s door.
Kay walked downstairs to fix herself some White Zinfandel. She felt it was high time to relax and unwind. Before she could prop her feet on her coffee table, she heard someone knocking on her door. Kay glanced at the clock, asking herself who could it be at this hour. She took a glimpsed outside to see who was there. But it was hard to tell who’s standing there. She opened the door and she couldn’t believe her eyes.
“Jessica? What are you doing here?” Kay stared at her weirdly.
“Kay, aren’t you going to invite your only sister in?” Jessica beamed brightly.
A baffled Kay invited her sister in and closed the door.
“What’s up?” Kay finally asked. Jessica is in total awe with the place Kay is living in.
“Jess, what’s up?” Kay repeated.
“Huh? Oh, the reason why I am here . . . is because there’s a surprise party for Mom and Dad. They don’t know we’re throwing them an anniversary party. Are you willing to attend?”
Jessica hoped that Kay would say yes. Kay thought about it for a moment.
“Sure, it’s only a private party for family and a couple of friends, why not come?” She shifted her shoulders carelessly.
“Is something on your mind?” Jessica could tell her sister is distracted.
“What?” Kay blinked at her calmly.
“Nothing, Jess. Thanks for telling me. Are you willing to stay?” Kay skipped the subject.
“No, actually, Reese and I are going to see Mom and Dad. See you tomorrow, right?” Jessica expected for Kay to be there.
“Yea,” she responded quietly.
“Be sure to bring Madeline and Eric with you.” She smiled as Kay walked her to the door.
“Madeline will be there, don’t you worry. It’s Eric, I have to work on.”
They both giggled and hugged each other goodbye. Kay shut the door and said.
“This should be one interesting event I don’t wanna miss.” She smiled brightly and rushed upstairs to get a good night rest.
