as in most Elvis movies he needs to achieve his goal
through hard work slaving as a hotel employee in order

Elvis
was surrounded by the largest number of musicians he
had ever worked with for part of the sessions.
For a number of the tracks Elvis overdubbed his vocals
seperately. This was the first time he had done this
which considerably enhanced the quality of the recording.
Elvis also sang with Ann-Margret on "The Lady Loves
Me" and "You're The Boss".
Among the guitarists at this session was Glen Campbell,
later to become a famous recording star in his own right.
Frank
Sinatra Jnr and Sandra Dee were both said to have been
signed for roles in the movie, but neither of them appeared
in the finished production.
Working titles for this movie were "Mister Will You Marry Me","The Lady Loves Me", "The only game in town", "The only girl in town" and "That Magic Touch".
The movie was released as "Love In Las Vegas in the U.K. to avoid confusion with another MGM musical "Viva Las Vegas" that had starred Dan Dailey.
Filming for Viva Las Vegas began on July 15th 1963 and was completed by September 16th.
Locations for the main scenes included the swimming pool at the Flamingo Hotel, McCarran Airport and the University of Nevada gymnasium.
It was the first Elvis film to be released overseas prior
to it's U.S distribution.
The chemistry between Elvis and Ann Margret both on and off screen was sensational and the gossip columists had a field day. Elvis and Ann remained friends until his death.
Viva Las Vegas premiered in New York on April 20th 1964.
It went into general release on June 17th. For the year
1964 it was number 11 in the rankings having grossed in
excess of $5 million.
