Handling
In one word: don't.  Salamanders aren't suitable for petting and handling.  The oils in our skin is toxic to them, they cannot endure the heat and salts on our hands.  Also, many salamanders conceal toxic fluid from their skin.  This fluid can cause terrible irritation to human mucous membranes.
If a sallie must be handled (such as when selecting one at a petstore, transferring it from it's traveling container to permenant enclosure, or if it's injured) you must wash your hands thoroughly with hot, soapy water before handling your little pet, and once again after you touch it.  If you are going to own sallies you might want to take into consideration that if you are putting different species together in one tank, many species cannot tolerate the toxins produced by another species and putting them together may result in deaths of one or more speices.
