New Wine Church meets in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis, the largest of the Outer Hebrides islands which are situated off the north west coast of Scotland. The island has air links to Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Inverness and a ferry link to Ullapool on the Scottish mainland. There are also inter-island air and ferry links connecting with the southern part of the Hebrides and the Isle of Skye. The church began in 1991 in the home of the founders, Donnie and Catriona Stewart. In 1993 the church relocated from the west side of the island to the main town of Stornoway to a rented building. At the end of 2000 the church moved to a newer rented facility on a per-hour basis. In June 2004 the Lord instructed us to move into the centre of the town and hold our Sunday morning service in Stornoway Town Hall. This follows our leasing of a building on the same street as an outreach centre - Father's House - MORE INFO "Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you" 1 Corinthians 3: 16 "But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body, just as He pleased" 1 Corinthians 11: 18 "How is it then brethren? Whenever you come together, each of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a tongue, has a revelation, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification" 1 Corinthians 14: 26 "I will build My church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it" Matthew 16: 18
Church is not somewhere that we go - it is who we are! The Greek word ecclesia which we translate as "church" simply means "an assembly of people." Therefore, New Wine Church is an assembly of people of all ages and from different backgrounds who have come into relationship with one another through their relationship with Jesus Christ.
"Where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them" Matthew 18: 20
All over the world there are assemblies of God's people who gather together in Jesus' name, believing and expecting the manifest presence of God to be with them bringing salvation, healing, and deliverance. New Wine Church is one of these assemblies - a gathering of people who believe and receive! The church should never be static but should always be on the move - it should always be exciting - a place where there is fresh testimony of God's goodness and faithfulness! New Wine Church meetings include lively praise and worship, believing prayer, faith-filled testimonies, and fired up and relevant preaching and teaching for the purpose of equipping people to effectively meet and overcome the challenges of living for Jesus in the 21st century! New Wine Church is a family church - children are regarded not just as the "church of the future", but as an important part of the church of the "NOW"! Visitors are always welcome!
