Following several informal prayer meetings in  "Teampull Eoropaidh" - St Moluag's Church in Eoropie, Ness - we felt that God was calling us to begin a Sunday evening service there.  Permission was kindly granted by the Scottish  Episcopal Church's St. Moluag's congregation in Tong (who are responsible for the building), allowing us to use the Teampull.

We had our first meeting there at the beginning of August, 2003 and there was a strong tangible presence of God in all of the services.
The present "St Moluag's" dates back to the 12th century but the site upon which the church is built is supposedly one of the first places that the Gospel was preached on the Isle of Lewis in the 6th century.

In days past the sick and demon-possessed were brought there to be healed and delivered.

Having read of our meetings in the Teampull in our newsletter, Allen Robertson of South Carolina sent the following prophetic word of encouragement:

"...in what is known locally in Gaelic as the 'Teampull' or temple..."

Donnie, as I was reading the New Wine for New Wineskins article about holding services in St. Moluag's, I came to this part and felt an unction on the "Teampull" so here goes. It is no accident that you have been led there to a place where the team must pull together to present the gospel. Where the dark can get darker(at night), the light can get lighter and thus the gospel will shine brighter and brighter as the noonday sun. Go, proclaim, and the power of this gospel will enlighten the eyes of the blind and they will see which way to walk; which path to take. It may feel damp, it may feel cramped, but the waters of the spirit will get you wet and bring you out into a broad place of the spirit where refreshing and growth will come. Amen. Blessings. Allen

ps...The temple was the place where all the parts would come together so the body was complete. Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, and ye are not your own? As you come together and pull together, the presence of the Holy Spirit will manifest more & more to work through His body or temple there.
As there is no electricity in the Teampull and hence no lighting or heating and the winter months were approaching, the Sunday evening service was moved to Taigh Dhonnchaidh, an arts and music centre in the village of  Habost.

Unfortunately, after a few  weeks of our meeting there, the committee of Taigh Dhonnchaidh had a rethink on their allowing us to rent their facility, (they didn't want to set a precedent for Sunday lets - remember they called Jesus a Sabbath-breaker!) and so at the end of October we were without a public venue.

However, before the committee's decision, the Lord had spoken and told us to attend the local Church of Scotland in Cross on Sunday evenings, and so we were there as a part of their congregation from the first Sunday in November. God is good!

After seven weeks of attending the Church of  Scotland in Cross - where we were made most welcome - the Lord told us that our time there was over and we were to move south to Barvas and begin holding meetings there.

We now meet in the Taigh Ceilidh in Heatherhill, Loch Street, Barvas - a building that the Lord told Donnie thirteen years ago we would meet in at some point!

It has been an interesting journey thus far as we have obeyed and followed the leading and direction of the Holy Spirit, and we believe that the Lord would have us establish a church  in this area of the West Side of the island.
