REV DR CLIVE SMITH went public and OPENED A PENTECOSTAL CHURCH ON SUNDAY MORNING 1 Jan 2006.
Clive had his first service High St, having started some 8 months prior with 8 people. There are a couple of Sudanese. Clive pays yearly $1600 for public liability insurance. Put 45 chairs in. Clive has spent from 8am till 10.20am bringing parishioners to church. Clive said he needs volunteer English teachers. 4 men have gotten jobs and 2 women. Church did start at High and Lovett Sts, Rangeville Community Church's old property. The building was "Bethel Hall" at Lovett St. In High St the building was on the southern side of the property and was in the middle of the 3 buildings but the one at end, closest to Lovett St was taken away in 2005 (as part of the deal of selling their former property, Rangeville Community Church asked for their original Methodist church to be kept for their new land). As of start of 2007 church shifted to Laurel Bank Park Hall. Clive preaches 3 times weekly in aged care facilities in 2007/ 2008.

* Clive Smith has operated as a evangelist with all denominations throughout Pakistan mostly for weeks at a time over a 10 year period of missions work.

I knew they were once using the Seventh Day Adventist building in Hume St for awhile but like many churches they don't advertise and don't have a yellow page listing. I was at a shop asking directions for the church but no one knew anything. I kept asking questions, being sure the church was in a 4 block radius. An old friend came into the shop. They said "Actually, co-incidentally in my rubbish here I have a hand written contact number from that church. You have it." Also, half the church are Papuans and there is a Papuan home group. Retired Pastor Gavin Thompson comes up from Brisbane to help guide. Had morning tea after church. The Nazarene church are very missionary minded.

Allowed to raise hands in church but not speak in tongues, only privately. Known Pentecostals do exist here. Interestingly they believe in Infant baptism due to Methodist roots and in full immersion due to Church of Christ roots!
**In 1908 the Methodists and Church of Christ united to form the Church of Nazarene which are in 130 countries and some 14 in Qld. Identical doctrine to Wesleyan Methodists. Difference is the way it's governed.

*10. Any other interesting information: This would be the most liberal as well as the most new age group I have came across in the entire web site. The Anglican Hospital chaplain first lead a meditation session using "Angel" cards (bought from a non - Christian "Angel" shop on Margaret St. Called "Messages from your Angels" by Doreen Virtue). We each had to pick a large card from a fan of them on the table. Mine had a picture of an Angel and it said her name was "Indriel" (not a biblical name) and the short message was along the lines of "God needs you to shine your light on the earth." While listing to a compact disk called "The Sounding of Cristal" by Igor Sk. We then had to meditate on this for 2 minutes and then share what we had "received." Then we had to meditate for one minute on the sounds we could hear and share what these meant. Also, Stephanie Francis was following a book called "Sadhana. Way to God." We then had a supper for 30 minutes. We then did a study on a book which said words like "Spirituality is 70,000 years old but formalised religion is only 4,500 years old." And "Patriarchal consciousness is when you believe there is one way in religion, politics or life..." The author was Diarmuid O'Murchu by Gateway publishers. Another lady said she was going to lead the next sudy in Keltic spiritual belief who believe very much in nature. Stephanie said she went to St Bartholemews Anglican and said "Pastor Richard is very conservative and I am very liberal so we are often at blows."

11. TIME THERE AND DATE OF VISIT: 30 March 2003 5pm- 8.30pm.
12. Length of service: 2hr 15 mins. 5pm- 7.15pm.
13. This and other service times: 5pm fortnightly.
14. Preacher: Anglican Hospital chaplain Stephanie Francis - Wickham. (Professional name is "Stephanie Francis.") (She's married to a Mr Wickham 3/2003.) (Is from Adelaide in 2000 and is re-married.)
15. Feeling of building: OK.
16. Estimate style of belief: Liberal/ New Age. All Charismatics and other Christians as well feel that the "New Age" belief is heresy, that it's completely wrong. That it should never be "entwined" with Christianity as it's a different belief all together, that it should be rooted out.
17. Dress code so as not to stand out: Casual to smart.
18. How to get there: Travel along Drayton Rd, go past the bridge, turn right into Colvin St, turn left at Cambooya St until Beatrice St.

NEXT (Inside a once Christian church stands a statue of a god, an errect stone Buddha, when the bible says "No carved gods of any size, shape or form or anything whatever... don't serve them because I am God" (Ex 20:4.) It's also true that Muslims see it as a prized possession to take over Christian churches.)
