RetainWall provides a soil pressure calculator. Select Calculate > Soil pressure calculator
menu or
toolbar to open the Soil pressure calculator window. The following window will be
shown.
Parameters required are as follows.
1. Wet density of soil (g)
- The wet density of soil above ground water table.
2. Saturated density of soil (gs) - The saturated density of soil below ground water table.
3. Density of water (gw) - The density of water.
4. Internal friction angle (f)
- The internal friction angle of all soil.
5. Cohesion (c) - The cohesion of all soil.
6. Soil slope (b) -
The slope angle of ground surface.
7. Wall friction angle (d)
- The friction angle of wall and soil.
8. Wall inclination (q)
- The inclination angle of wall surface from vertical.
9. Depth of soil (h) - The depth of soil giving the pressure to the wall measured from the
ground surface adjacent to the wall.
10. Depth of water table (hw)
- The depth of water table measured from the ground surface
adjacent to the wall.
11. Surcharge load (q) - The distributed surcharge on the ground surface.
12. Horizontal seismic coefficient (kh)
- The horizontal seismic coefficient relative to gravity
acceleration (g).
Change the required parameters in the text boxes. Immediate results will be obtained. To
change the units, see Unit system.
