CQE Suggested Book List

  1. Quality Engineering Handbook; Thomas Pyzdek and Roger Berger, eds.; Item # H0603; $89.75 for members. Very good general reference, not as dense as Quality Control Handbook. ************

  2. Juran's Quality Control Handbook; J.M. Juran, editor in chief; item # H0511; $92.50 for members. The bible of Quality. ***********

  3. Quality Technician's Handbook; Gary K. Griffith; item # P533; $69.00; Another good general reference, lower "level" than QE Handbook.

  4. Quality Engineering Statistics; Robert A. Dovich; item # H0679; $19.50 for members. Great reference on statistics, simple, easy to use. Must have for exam. ***********

  5. Reliability Statistics; Robert A. Dovich; item #H0601; $20.95 for members. I have not seen, but I feel that it would be a simple reference to reliability.

  6. Statistical Quality Control Handbook; Western Electric Company; item #P310; $29.95. Good SPC/SQC reference.

  7. Fundamentals of Quality Auditing; B. Scott Parsowith; item #H0794; $29.00 for members. Best basic reference on quality auditing, simple, easy to use.

  8. Principles of Quality Costs; Jack Campanella, ed.; item #H0593; $24.95 for members. A fair quality costs book, best available, tough area.

  9. Statistics for Experimenters; George E.P. Box, William G. Hunter, J. Stuart Hunter; item #P19; $64.95. Good experimental design reference.

  10. The Quality Toolbox; Nancy R. Tague; item #H0861; $30.00 for members. Good general reference on quality tools.

  11. Quality Planning and Analysis; J.M. Juran and Frank Gryna; item #P482; $63.00. Second only to the QE Handbook as a general reference. If this is available, can be substituted for QE Handbook.

  12. Standards to have for exam: ANSI/ISO/ASQC Q9000-1-1994, ANSI/ISO/ASQC Q9001-1994, ANSI/ISO/ASQC Q9002-1994, ANSI/ISO/ASQC Q9003-1994, ANSI/ISO/ASQC Q9004-1-1994, ANSI/ISO/ASQC A8402-1994, ANSI/ASQC M1-1987, ANSI/ASQC C1-1985, ANSI/ISO/ASQC Q10011-1994, ANSI/ASQC Z1.4-1993, ANSI/ASQC Z1.9-1993. **************

Each of these would be useful on the CQE exam. However, an intimate knowledge of the references that you do have available is more important than obtaining all of these books. The ones with asterisks at the end are considered by me to be the most important.

All item numbers referred to in this list are ASQ Quality Press item numbers.
