Born in Oxford/England on July 15th,1954 Dee D.Jackson started her career in the middle of 70's in Munich/Germany as a fiction scientific short films producer, also working in music with big names such as Giorgio Moroder and Keith Forsey.
After years working for other artists Dee D.Jackson released her first single - "Man of a Man (78)", not included in any of her albums. The single didn't get the public attention but she wouldn't give up easily.
Her next attempt was the release of her biggest single ever -
"Automatic Lover" (78), a
huge hit all over the world. A futuristc song about a robot who
falls in love with an intergalactic girl. Discos from
Australia to USA, north to south hemisphere played to
exhaustion "Automatic Lover". In Brazil (brazilian media source) the success was
so huge that brazilian media produced its own Dee D.Jackson
version. A brazilian girl (Regina Shakti) dressed like Dee D.Jackson along with
her robot and a meteor man were introduced on TV programs all
over the country as a real Dee D.Jackson. It was a fever! Brazil was taken by storm, every single girl wanted look like Dee D.Jackson.
Automatic Lover"
topped the world "charts" reaching #4 on the british
charts for more than 8 weeks, #1 in Brazil, Argentine, Italy, France, Spain, Turkey, Germany, Japan etc.
Middle of 1978 Dee D.Jackson came out with her first album titled
"Cosmic Curves". Dee D.Jackson
looked stunning as a "futuristic disco queen" for who a robot and a
meteor man fall in love with...A fiction scientific/disco album, once the "disco music" was in its "boom"
all around the world at the time.. Donna Summer's first album
drummer Gary Unwin and his wife Patty Unwin were set up to
produce this album for the based Germany label Jupiter Records.
The second "Cosmic Curves" single was
released late 1978, a song named "Meteor Man", another big hit in Argentine, Brazil,Europe and Japan.
A modest airplay made it to reach 48th on the bristish charts.
The following year 1979 Dee D.jackson released another single "Fireball". A electric and strong song , but incredibly it failed to top the british charts despite Dee D.jackson 's visual appeal. Italy,
Germany,Brazil and Argentine gave a reasonable airplay to it. A 12' long-version of it was released playing well at Discotheques.
After months of exhaustion promotion campaigns, travels, Tv appearances all over european countries Dee D.Jackson spent 2 years to come out with a new
album."Thunder & Lightning" was released at the end
of 1980. In Italy "Thunder & Lightning" was released under the name "The Fantastic" featuring a different layout cover). This album followed the same style of the previous one.
Again, Dee D.Jackson looked excessively beauty and sexy . The
first album single "SOS(love to the rescue)"
failed again to top the british charts but once more
France, Brazil, Italy, Argentine, Japan
and Germany seemed to like this new song and at result of this
"SOS" got a significant reception in those countries
having a cold reception with a mild airplay in UK".
After those "up and
downs" in the early 80's Dee D.jackson moved to Los Angeles to have a rest of the recording life. In 1981 a greatest hits album called "Profile" was released in Germany. After months living in USA Dee D.Jackson moved to Italy and released the singles "Talk Me Down (81), Shotgun (82), Moonlight Starlight (84),
Sweet Carillon (84), Heat of the Night (85) and in 1988 Automatic Lover was remixed by Michael Cretu (Enigma) and released as a single - Automatic Lover 88 Digital Max Mix, a huge hit in Japan.
At the end of 80's Dee D.Jackson married and had a baby boy - Norman. Ten years later a new album "Blame it on the Rain
(95)" and a new single People (96). In 1998 Meteor Man was remixed by Mike Generale.
In 1995 "Cosmic Curves" was released on CD with 2 extra bonus tracks; Automatic Lover Remix and Fireball. "Thunder & Lightning" followed in 1996 with 5 extra bonus tracks; Talk Me Down, Moonlight Starlight, Automatic Lover 88 Max Mix, Fireball (long version) and SOS (Love to the Rescue - Megamix),
Year 2000 saw the release of "IL Meglio" (The Best), a compilation album by an italian label.
Dee D.jackson lives in Turin (Italy) but also has a house in England and Monaco.
The latest news report that Dee D.jackson opened up a new record company "D.D.E" (Divine Dance Experience) in Turin (Italy) where she produces Hip Hop,Garage and Trance artists. Also is reported she's working in a new album probably to be released in 2003.
