Yale Basecamp

Name:  Yale Cottage
Location:  Erddig, Wrexham

Location Map

The Yale cottage basecamp is situated within the grounds of the Erddig estate.

The two converted cottages have three dormitories upstairs, sleeping 10, 6 and 2 people, all in bunk beds.

The showers, washing and toilet facilities are on the ground floor.

The kitchen facilities are adequate, although some parts of the two cookers were not working during our stay.

There is a large fridge/freezer and plenty of other storage space.

There is an endless supply of hot water, from both an electric emersion system and a gas central heating system.

The dining area has a very large wooden table and wooden benches.

There is no separate seating area for relaxation and after a while the wooden benches do feel very hard.

Apparently there are future plans to build a conservatory onto the cottage with more comfortable seating.

The cottage is adjacent to some residential estate cottages, but at the back of the basecamp there is a grassed area with some picnic tables and a brick barbecue.

There is a car park at the front of the cottage.

The cottage has full central heating throughout, as well as an open log fire in the dining area.

Although there was enough room for us during our stay, there was only nine people in our group. If the cottage was full (18 people) then I feel that it would be very cramped and meals would have to be taken in shifts.
If a conservatory is built with some comfortable seating then this will greatly improve the facilities of this basecamp.

My Star Rating for this basecamp  (10 is the Best)
