Yale Basecamp
| Name: Yale Cottage | ![]() |
| Location: Erddig, Wrexham | |
| The Yale cottage basecamp is situated within the
grounds of the Erddig estate.
The two converted cottages have three dormitories upstairs, sleeping 10, 6 and 2 people, all in bunk beds. The showers, washing and toilet facilities are on the ground floor. |

The kitchen facilities are adequate, although some
parts of the two cookers were not working during our stay.
There is a large fridge/freezer and plenty of other storage space. There is an endless supply of hot water, from both an electric emersion system and a gas central heating system. |
| The dining area has a very large wooden table and
wooden benches.
There is no separate seating area for relaxation and after a while the wooden benches do feel very hard. Apparently there are future plans to build a conservatory onto the cottage with more comfortable seating. |

The cottage is adjacent to some residential estate
cottages, but at the back of the basecamp there is a grassed area with
some picnic tables and a brick barbecue.
There is a car park at the front of the cottage. The cottage has full central heating throughout, as well as an open log fire in the dining area. |
Although there was enough
room for us during our stay, there was only nine people in our group. If
the cottage was full (18 people) then I feel that it would be very cramped
and meals would have to be taken in shifts. |
