Rawson Centre Basecamp

Name:  Rawson Centre
Location:  Marsden Moor, Yorkshire

Location Map

The Rawson Centre is situated within the Marsden Moor Estate and has a spectacular view over the moorland surrounding the centre.

The centre is owned by a school in Lincolnshire, as a field studies centre, and is hired by the National Trust for Working Holidays.

The centre is very well equipped and very spacious.

In the past the building has been a public house and the large bar areas provide excellent facilities.

The dining/activity area has the superb views over the moors and is a great setting for meal times.

There is a lounge area in which to relax and reflect on the days work.

Comfortable sofas and chairs compliment the bar style seating in this area.

The whole centre has central heating and is warm throughout.

Within the lounge area there is a pool table and a dart board.

There is also a pay phone, which is convenient as some mobile telephones cannot get a signal in this area.

There is also a water dispenser here with bottled water, as the tap water is not recommended for drinking without boiling first.

The bedrooms are on two levels below the ground floor.

There are about 10 bedrooms, each with bunkbeds for four people. Each room has en-suite facilities, including hot showers.

Duvets, pillows, sheets and pillow cases are all provided at this centre.

The kitchen facilities include two stoves, a microwave oven, fridge/freezer and a huge collection of equipment.

For larger groups there is also a whole bank of serving bays with steam heaters and hot lamps.

There is also a large food storage area adjacent to the kitchen.

This is a very large and well equipped basecamp.

The spaciousness and spectacular views make this a basecamp well worth re-visiting.

My Star Rating for this basecamp  (10 is the Best)
