.::Chapter Six::. //Leaving\\
Viggo sat in the lobby, waiting for Megan to come down. Orlando came down, dressed in running gear and stopped when he saw Viggo. “Vig, what are you doing here?”
“Waiting for Megan to come down so I can take her to the airport.” Viggo replied.
Orlando’s eyes widened. He was taking far too long to process this information. “Say that again?”
“She’s leaving, she’s going back to work.” Viggo replied. “I don’t know, one morning she just decided to leave.”
Orlando sat down next to him. “There’s no chance of convincing her to stay?” His mind reeled. He knew. He knew that he had something to do with her leaving.
“She’s as stubborn as me, Orlando.” Viggo replied. “And anyway, why do you care so much that she stays?” He eyed Orlando warily.
“I just didn’t get to speak with her, that’s all.” Orlando replied. “Much.”
Viggo relaxed into his seat. He saw Megan come off of the elevator and she walked towards her cousin.
“Are you ready to go?” She asked, she was ignoring Orlando, treating him as though he wasn’t there.
“I am if you are.” Viggo replied. Megan nodded, opening her water bottle.
“See you in a bit, Orlando.” He began to walk out when he heard Megan following quickly behind him. “You forgot to say goodbye to Orlando. You’ve been up there for half an hour saying good-bye to everyone else.”
“Well, maybe Orlando forgot to tell me something.” Megan replied, so that Orlando could hear. “And that this will be his reward.”
Viggo stopped. “Say that again, Meg?” His eyes now darted back and forth between Orlando and Megan.
“Maybe Orlando forgot to tell me something. And that this will be his reward.” Megan replied, simply. Viggo beckoned Orlando to him.
In a dangerously quiet voice he said. “I want you both to get into an elevator with me so that we can have a chat.” Orlando gulped and obeyed.
Megan hastily walking past him. They stood in the elevator and Viggo picked the highest floor and then stopped it right after it left the ground floor.
“Orlando, what, exactly, did you forget to tell Megan?” Viggo asked. Orlando mumbled something.
“I didn’t forget, Viggo. She didn’t come to me that night, like I’d asked of her.” Orlando replied. “I was going to tell her.”
Viggo opened his mouth but was interrupted by Megan’s rage. “And you think that I would’ve reacted differently? Orlando, I don’t know if you realized this, but I like you a lot. And you know what you did? It was basically ‘Fuck you Megan, you were just my toy until my real girlfriend came along.’ There, what do you have to say to that?”
“Megan, would it mean anything to you if I said that I watched you surf yesterday, stayed inside my room the whole night and told my girlfriend, ex-girlfriend to leave?” Orlando asked. “I didn’t think-“
“You’re right that you didn’t think Orlando. What makes you believe that I would stay for your sake?” Megan asked. Orlando knew Viggo to act heartless, but Megan, this was pure, raw anger.
“You win. If you want to leave, leave. I’m not stopping you.” Orlando said, giving up. He reached over to the buttons and pulled the stop button and pushed the button for his floor.
The long ride up was silent.
The door opened to Orlando’s floor and he stood in between the elevator and the hallway. “Megan, I think you should still say goodbye to Orlando.”
Megan looked up, her eyes caught his. Her face, though hard and angered, were unsuccessfully trying to mask the softness and forgiveness in her eyes.
She walked to hug him. “Goodbye, Orlando.” She said into his ear. Orlando held onto her, knowing she probably wouldn’t come back, for him, anyway.
“Bye, Megs.” He replied. She winced when he used her nickname. She winced because he was still kind to her after she had completely blown him off. She ended the hug and looked at him before kissing his cheek. He looked at her curiously.
She gently pushed him out of the elevator door’s way, returned his gaze and smiled as the doors closed.
