CHAPTER 5

He must have sat there watching her for at least an hour. Being an early riser, he had gotten out of bed, pulling on his boxers and opened up the ceiling to floor windows that had let a soft sultry breeze in. He went back to his old shy self again when he saw her that morning. Hayden was still wondering what had come over him that previous night to be so bold with her. He had never carried a woman to bed before. Ever.

But there was something about her that told him, for once she should be treated like a lady. Just once. She seemed to be very naive and gullible yet at the same time, she had to be strong to survive in this dog eat dog town. Hollywood was a bitch heaven. Everyone knew that.

The breeze blew against her face as the sun lit it up. Her skin was two or three shades darker than his...had he noticed this the night before when he had her flesh under his hands? Her mouth upturned into a gentle smile and she seemed to have got a good sleep after years...Her bare bronze shoulders shone in the sunlight and her long auburn hair fell naturally, framing her face.

Hayden had to smile. He hadn't been able to wipe that grin of his face. It had been very long since he had slept with someone. And, well...he was not too good at the morning after. But he knew that neither was she.

Suddenly he bolted. He had heard a baby cry in the next room. Shiva. Instead of waiting for her to wake up, he got up and walked to the next room.

It was certainly a baby boy's room. Done up in a pale pastel blue and a cream. Toys by the dozen filled in up. Most of them were miniature trucks and and cars. The room had beautiful windows too. They were big and bright and let the sunshine in.

He pulled aside the curtains to let the sunlight in and went to the small cot in the middle of the room. The first thing he saw was the curly mop of hair and then two hazel eyes that reminded him of Nikita. The little boy in the cot stared at him in wonder and bewilderment, no doubt wondering where his mother was.

"Mama where?" asked the baby much to Hayden's shock. "Mama's here, darling. Mama's coming." he heard a voice behind him say.

"He-he talks!" he stammered to Nikita, who had walked out of the room in his white shirt which had lain on the floor until a few minutes ago. She walked to the cot and picked up little Shiva who continued to look at Hayden in as much surprise as before.

"Yes, Hayden, he learnt a few words and sentences. Not very unusual for a one year old. But he usually only asks for me. Or says Mama." she grinned at Hayden her eyes shining in amusement at his incredulity. She looked at the drawn curtains and smiled at him "Thanks for drawing those curtains. He usually likes to watch the sun come out."

"Well a bright good morning to you to." said Hayden coming out of his reverie of just watching her and listening to her. He walked up to her and kissed her lips when she put Shiva down and turned his way again. He looked at the baby again and let his finger skim down his cheek. She gazed at them both in adoration as the two most important men in her life and saw Hayden in a new respect.

"You never told me you liked babies." she whispered as Shiva suddenly grasped his finger making Hayden laugh in his wine rich, mellow voice.

"Let me put it this way. The first time I saw you, you were carrying Shiva down. I already thought you were an illusion alone. But nothing...and I mean nothing...melts me more than a woman with a baby in her arms. I have a little sister you see? And the day my parents brought her home, I knew that I was going to have at least five kids. I have no idea why I told you that right now..." he added confused as he looked at her from the corner of his eye.

She laughed at this as he now crossed the floor to her. Taking her in his arms, he heard her murmur "What a strange thing to say." He kissed her once more before letting her go.

"Are you going to teach him my name?" he asked her gently taking her hand.

"Hmmm...if you want me to" she muttered. He looked into her hazel eyes and she stared into his deep dark green ones.

"Yeah I do...because he's going to be seeing a lot more of me around here."

*

"Nikita!" yelled James from the set. "Time to take your shot! NOW, PLEASE!"

She closed her eyes and got into the character of Naaz. Sadness, pain, fear, everything had to come back to her. And she had to drop that damned grin! Suddenly she felt a tap on her shoulder. She looked at Johnny's chiseled face and sexy grin.

"You had sex last night, didn't you?"

She went red in the face and exclaimed "WHAT?!"

He folded his arms across his chest and followed her to the room that was supposedly Naaz's Bedroom, still grinning. "Yes you did!"

"NO!" she said a little too quickly, lying through her teeth.. "No I didn't. And how would you know if I did anyway?"

"You didn't? Because I'm getting these vibes here that say you did it, to begin with, the 'I-can't-wait-to-get-my-hands-on-him-again' grin. And you KNOW I've been to candy land plenty more times than you!"

"Johnny! Nikita! Get into your positions already!" said James coming closer to them. He had been wondering what had been keeping them for so long...until he saw Nikita's face.

"You've been having sex lately?!" he said in a loud voice. Some of the crew turned towards her giving all three if them funny looks. Nikita looked down at her feet for a moment, embarrassed out of her mind.

"Okay, is this out on video?"

"And you did it thrice, right?" asked Johnny eagerly, dying to hear who the guy was.

She looked at him scandalized. How on earth did he know- "You scary SCARY man! Keep AWAY from me!"

Johnny gave his slow sexy grin again just as James started laughing... "Can't darling. The next scene is the steamy one."

*

"Yo Christensen! Where the fuck were you all night??? Do you REMEMBER you have a new movie to do?!" yelled Shane from the bathroom. Hayden paced around Orlando's room waiting for Shane to come out. Honestly, the guy took as much time as a girl in there. He, Shane and Orlando were co stars in one of the newer movies about to come out.

Orlando sat comfortably on the couch in his apartment, watching him in amusement.

"Thirty nine." he announced when Hayden finally sat down. He looked up at the grinning Englishman. "Thirty nine times you've paced around this room. I counted." said Orlando happily.

"Brilliant, Bloom. You're wasted." laughed Hayden as he chucked a pillow at him. Shane finally walked out of the bathroom and looked at Hayden's beaming face. "Well?" he asked impulsively.

"Well what?" said Hayden playing dumb for a moment. Orlando chuckled and kicked Shane.

"Were you where I think you were last night?"

"What the hell are you talking about?"

Orlando rolled his eyes and got up grabbing his car keys. "You know ladies, we're supposed to be on our way for the screen test with the female leads. I'm hoping you realize that the women in this day and age have careers as well."

Shane and Hayden looked at each other and grinned. "Sir YES SIR!" making a salute, Shane left right lefted, doing a near perfect march with Hayden falling suit, shaking his head and laughing.

Orlando grinned and laughter followed him all the way down to the car.

*

"Gah! Remind me to shoot myself!" said Nikita, frowning at her watch as the shoot wrapped up. Johnny looked at her "Shoot yourself."

"Ha ha. Very funny. But I'm supposed to be at the screen tests by now."

"I'll drive you!" said Johnny gallantly. She looked at him, her eyes gleaming. "Oh will you? You're a sweetheart!"

Johnny grinned at her and said "You know, happiness suits you. Keep smiling."

"Awww...thanks Johnny. That's very nice of you to say." she said waving at James and saying good bye to random members of the crew as they walked to his car. He gave his cheeky grin again and they didn't speak again until they were inside the car.

"Listen, this guy you're with...you tell him to be careful alright? Because if he hurts you in anyway, I'll murder him." said Johnny seriously. He had become quite attached to Nikita and he thought of her as a very good friend. The last thing he wanted was for her to get hurt.

Nikita had to smile. Johnny was one of her closest male friends ever. And they had was a very good friendship but with no sparks or anything. She looked up to him as an actor and a friend in the same way he looked up to her as an actress and a close companion.

He suddenly pulled over and she looked at where they had stopped. The gates opened easily because of their recognizable faces and the BMW swung in with ease. She got out of the car thanked Johnny kissing his cheek goodbye. He pulled out and after checking on how she would get a ride back, was gone.

She turned to walk into the studio. Suddenly she thought she saw three familiar faces come out of a Hummer. But on the other hand, everyone looked familiar around here. So she just walked ahead minding her own business until she heard her name being called out.

"Nikita!" she turned around and saw Hayden with Orlando and Shane who had a one massive cheesy grin between them.

"Hey..." he said breathlessly as he finally reached her.

"Hey..." said Orlando equally breathlessly in a direct parody of Hayden.

Shane started laughing "OY! That's MY line!!!"

Ignoring them both he leaned down and kissed her, sliding his hands on her hips. She smiled a contented smile against his lips and ignored everyone else who was stopping to gape at them.

Shane and Orlando hooted.

"Told you he didn't come back last night!"

*

"How can you say that, Sky? How? What makes you think I don't love you?!" asked Natasha angrily. Sky turned around and grabbed Natasha's shoulders equally angry. "You're my best friend's FIANCÉE Natasha! I cannot let us do this!" Natasha shrugged his hands off.

"But I love YOU! We can't ruin Jack's life as well! I'll never love him the way I love you!" Sky sighed and looked at the angry woman he was in love with.

"You are getting wedding jitters. I KNOW how that feels. Except my bride passed away." He said softly. She softened and took his face in her hands. "We know what we're doing, Sky....we're adults remember?"

"Natasha I-" but he was overcome with the urgency to kiss her again. So instead his mouth met hers and they kissed for a long long time...

*

"Nikita, Hayden...your chemistry is bloody good...we need that in this movie...Okay, now that Jessica is here as well, lets sort out the schedules. Some of you are working on movies on and off. We need this whole thing decided here and now." said Anna Krista. She had just got together the actors so that she herself got to know them a little better.

So far, she had noted that:

Hayden Christensen was a very real kind of guy with a great attitude to his work. He took on Skylar the guy who is supposed to be the 'other' guy in the movie.

Shane West was a joker, but he was a brilliant actor. He played Jack, Sky's best pal and also the guy who was being two timed.

Orlando Bloom was very professional and gentlemanly and he looked like he was at home everywhere he went. He was to be the mysterious Bob, who happens to be leading them all astray with his strange philosophies.

Jessica Alba was also extremely serious about her work, but cracked up every once in a while...what can you do when you have the three stooges around you? Anyhow, she was Bob's love interest and they had an interesting capability together.

Nikita Gill was...to say the least...complicated...She was a good actress and studied her characters hard...but she didn't keep too open about herself around too much with anyone except for Hayden...She was Natasha, Sky's love interest and Jack's fiancée. Interestingly...Hayden and Nikita had major sparks off-screen as well.

If Anna didn't know any better, she could have said for certain that the two of them were romantically involved.

*

"Well, that was a surprise." said Hayden his arms around Nikita and grinning at Shane and Orlando who stood there grinning at them as usual. Shane winked at Nikita and said "If I were you, I'd be wondering whether this guy fixed that up, you being a part of that movie."

They were now at Hayden's place and Nikita had been complaining about what a mess he kept it in. Orlando and Shane could not stop laughing at him. They were supposed to be getting ready to go out that night for the premiere of Orlando and Julie Stiles's new movie 'Not Yet in Love.'

"I mean, firstly he seduces you...and then its this...very soon he'll be flying you off to meet his parents!" said Shane, in a mock angry way.

"And then it'll be marriage and babies! We're warning you!" agreed Orlando, in dire tones.

Nikita started laughing her deep sexy laugh and put her arms back and around Hayden's neck. This time he didn't need to turn away, instead he put his head down and kissed her neck.

"Get lost, Shane..." murmured Hayden as he nibbled her ear now.

"Hayden! Don't you dare! I don't have the time for this!" she squealed already feeling weak in her knees. They had only two hours to get ready!

"...and take Orlando with you..." he finished kissing her lips as she turned towards him.

Shane shook his head and sighed exaggeratedly "As if we don't get enough of this in the movies! Come on you miserable beast!"

Hayden grinned as he heard Orlando scowl "What do you mean 'miserable beast'? I'll have you know I am NOT miserable! Why on earth would I be miserable?" and continued to yell at Shane as the door slammed...

Smiling he looked at her..."Now that the kids are gone lets get back to our business shall we?"

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN 'KIDS'?!" boomed Orlando's voice from outside and caused them to start laughing again.

*

"FUCK! FUCK, FUCK, FUCK, PISS AND SHIT!!!"

She woke up to his profanities. She pulled the sheets around herself and got up. He stood there, his eyes wide on something in the newspaper. "What's happened, Hayden?"

He picked up the paper and showed it to her.

"Nikita Gill and Hayden Christensen...Love at first sight?"

She read the article and looked back at him. "Um...I know this is going to sound rude but so what?"

"Don't you care that your rep will be maligned?" asked Hayden.

"I don't give a damn either way. We're young and we have our own careers. We can do what we want! Nothing to be ashamed about!" she said.

He shook his head and sighed then he looked up at her. "You know, I'm not going to try a one off with you right? You know that I want this thing to work right? It's not a lust thing. Its more than that."

"So what are you trying to say? You thought this was a lust thing? And once you sleep with me a few times it will wear off?" she said this with a blank face, her eyes filling with anger and pain.

"Nikita! No, you misunderstood...I care about you...I really do!" he came towards her but she backed away.

"So what are we Hayden? Friends who fuck every now and then?" she said, pain evident in her eyes. Her husky voice was murmuring now and her mouth began to quiver again.

"Nikita...I...like you a lot, and there is no way in the world I would let something like this affect our relationship. You're just the sort of woman I want to fall in love with. You're beautiful and vivacious and full of life and smart...but most importantly you listen..."

Now she let him walk up and hold her in his arms. He buried his face in her hair. Her hair smelt like honey and apples...delicious and feminine and sweet...Stuff that had been absent from his life for way too long.

"Nikita?" He whispered, not sure whether he was breathing.

"Hmmm...?" she murmured, just enjoying the moment of quiet love.

"Can I talk to you about something?" he heard himself say.

She looked up into his eyes and he found himself staring into serene, sincere pools of hazel..."Anything you want, love."

"Okay..." he said softly and sat down on he bed again. He told her about everything. About Tom and Jeff and how it had haunted him for years and years. She listened to him. Just sat on the bed, listening, nodding every now and then but never judging. Or looking shocked.

"Well? Do you think you could still find it in your heart to fall in love with a guy like me?"

She made him sit down and then sat down in his lap. "It is going to take a lot more than that to get rid of me, Mr. Christensen."

He laughed at this statement and almost instantly stopped. "Uh...no advice or anything?"

She sighed and snuggled closer to his bare chest and he put his arms around her. "Hayden, my darling, advice grows on trees. I'm not here to give you advice unless you really really need it. Nor am I here to judge you. If you really want my advice, all I can say is forget about it...it wasn't your fault."

She had anticipated what he was going to say and he said exactly that. "Easier said than done."

"Yes..." she said quietly. "Which is why I never give advice...because its easier said than done...and I know exactly how that feels."

"How come I always end up thinking the same thing?"

She looked up at his grinning face and asked curiously..."And what is that?"

"I have got to be very very hot to get your attention!"

She smacked his shoulder, laughing "Ooh! You arrogant man!"

"Oh, by the way." he said kissing the tip of her nose. "We are very..."

"Yes?" she asked.

"Very..."

"Go on..."

"LATE!"

*

"My dear silly woman, you're driving the wrong way!"

"I am NOT, you arrogant man. And I drive better than you!"

"But I have better direction skills than you do!"

"No you don't!"

They fought like crazy people in the car. She refused to let him drive. It was thing she seemed to have against him handling the wheel. Probably his overly reckless driving. He couldn't help but smile at her though. They were a very unique couple. Other people kept names for each other like sweetheart or love bug or some crapola like that. But them? They were 'silly woman' and 'arrogant man' to each other.

"Nikita?" asked Hayden tersely as he watched her chew her fingernail and the light turned green.

"Hmm???" she asked.

"Stop chewing those nails, you'll make them ugly."

"Yes sir..." she muttered as she turned to the Europa.

"Oh yeah, by the way..." he said, now cupping her neck and playing with the stray strands of hair framing her face. "You look fantastic. After this is through, can we go back to your place and have wild animal sex?"

He said this extremely matter of factly, as if he was answering a thesis question.

She began to laugh and just about managed a composed face as the valet opened the door for her. Photographers surrounded them again. This time Hayden answered the one question everyone was dying to know the answer to.

"So, are you two involved?"

"Yes. We are. And other than that, ladies and gentlemen, No Comment." said Hayden firmly and grasping her hand, he pulled her close to him and slung his arm around her waist. She grinned at him and, in full view of everyone, planted a kiss on his lips. He blushed a bright red, just as the photographers clicked away to glory.

"God!!! Can't you think of something else to do?! Every time a body turns around, you two are locked at the lip!" said Orlando in his pronounced British accent. He was standing them in a pretend huff.

"He's just jealous." said Hayden, resting his cheek on her hair, as she leaned against his shoulder.

"I've got better things to do than be jealous of some idiot man, having it off with a bleedin' woman." Orlando continued to huff as they walked to the cinema.

"Natalie must have pissed him off again." whispered Nikita against his ear. Orlando and Natalie had a love hate relationship.

"GAH! Women are nothing but trouble and your bone headed friend is more trouble than most."

"Whose a bonehead! Bloom, you better not be calling me a bone head!" yelled a female voice which was unmistakably Natalie's.

"BONEHEAD!" yelled Orlando and he ran in the opposite direction of the cinema. Straight into the press, that is where Natalie (attired in a long black slinky dress, mind you.) chased him to until she caught him cameras clicking away to heaven.

Hayden grinned at them for a moment and then said "A moment for the Oscars."

"Violence between Portman and Bloom!" quoted Nikita reading a fake newspaper.

They laughed just as Shane appeared with a particularly striking blonde at his arm that Nikita instantly recognized as one of the Olsen Twins. What on earth was Shane doing with an Olsen twin? Wasn't he too old for her?

Hayden stared at Shane then gestured to his date as Nikita began talking to her "What on earth are you up to man?"

"Babe sitting."

"You mean baby sitting."

"Nope, babe sitting. Okay, okay..." he said hastily as Hayden gave him a funny look "I lost a bet okay? I promised her and her sister that I would take one of them to the premiere of this movie if -"

"Gotcha, save your breath." muttered Hayden, he idly ran his hand down Nikita's bare back as she shivered and shook her head at him. He smiled and said gently "I'm hoping you like reading."

"Are you kidding me? Books are my best friends."

"Mine too. Tove just irritates the hell out of me with those damned comments of his." confided Hayden as they took their seats. He sat rather uncomfortably and said "Damn I hate wearing suits. I feel like a damned peacock!"

"You're a very handsome peacock, my darling." she murmured smiling gently "And when we go back home, you can walk around in your boxers."

"I can't wait." He looked at her questioningly, smiling "Won't Shiva mind that? Some strange man walking in his house in nothing but boxers?"

"I'm sure he won't mind, considering he wears only diapers."

"And what about you?" he asked a little too hopefully.

She smacked him on the arm, silently laughing. Orlando, Shane, Natalie and Ashley Olsen (Yeah, they finally discovered which one it was) joined them whilst Julie Stiles with them, took the front row. The movie had started.
