Chapter 6

I woke up the next afternoon when I heard the phone ring. "Hello." I said. "Hello, where's Elijah?" I heard an annoyed voice ask. "Who, may I ask, is calling?" I asked. "Who, may I ask, is this?" He asked. "This is a hooker, nice to talk to you again Zachariah." I said. "A what? How do you know my name?" He asked. "It's me, Forever!" I said. "That's where you are! I tried to call you at home, dad is on his way, he should be there in an hour. I'm on my way too, I should be there in 30 minutes." He said. "AH! I'll get Elijah, and we'll see you then." I said. "Ok, bye." He said. He hung up. "LIJ! GET UP!" I yelled. "What?" He asked tiredly. "Your dad's on his way here, he'll be here in an hour." I said. "Oh my god no." He groaned. "Yeah, Zacharia just called." I said. "Is he coming?" He asked. "Yeah, he'll be here in 30. I'll go get Hannah, Dom, and Billy up." I said. He got up, and went o get ready as I ran to Dom's room. I opened the door. "WAKE UP!" I yelled. "What?" Hannah asked tiredly, and Dom threw a pillow at me. "Your brother will be here in 30, and your DAD will be here in an hour." I said. Hannah stood up. "No way!" She said. "Way." I said. "Shit!" She said.

30 Minutes Later

The doorbell rang. I ran to get it. I swung open the door. "Zacharia! Look at you! It's so nice to see you." I said. "You too, how long have you been a hooker?" He joked. "Hooker?" Lij asked. "Yes, it seems your friend here has become a hooker." Zacharia said. Lij looked at me weirdly. "Oh don't worry, I don't go whoring myself around." I said. "Good, cause you know I'd be upset if some guy got you before I did." He said. "Oh, in some sick and twistedly wrong way that was sweet." I said giving him a kiss. "Do you two ALWAYS have to tell people that you're dating like that?" Dom asked. "Ah! Dating, best if you don't tell dad." Zacharia said. "Yeah, that's how I planned it." I said. "No! I'm telling him, I don't owe him any explanation." Elijah said. "Elijah, I know you and dad have problems, but really…" Zacharia said. "Zack, please, don't lecture me." Elijah said. "Lijey, he's not trying to lecture you…" I started before I was interrupted. Don't call me Lijey! Please!" Elijah said angry. "Sorry." I said getting teary. "Elijah, don't yell at her." Zack said. "I'll yell at her if I like Zack!" Elijah said. I turned around and walked out the front door. I walked up to this hill that was part of the front yard, and I sat down. I knew Lij was just angry with his dad coming, but he didn't have to take it out on me. I fumbled through my pocket and pulled out a cigarette and a match. I looked at them wondering weather or not I should do it. I had quit, but what could one cigarette hurt? "I know you don't want to do that." Billy said. "Billy, you're always here when I need you, are you my fairy god mother?" I asked. He smiled. "I just might be." He said. "I stole them from Lij." I said. "Yeah, I figured. Don't do it. I know you don't think one can do any harm, but it can." He said. "It's as good as not done." I said throwing them both. I saw a car pull into the driveway, and I grabbed Billy and pulled him behind a bush. "If we hide here we wont have to see him!" I said. "Fat chance of that! Come on." Hannah said. "Damn you Hannah!" I said. We followed her to the door. "And don't look directly at him, he'll turn you to stone." I said to Billy. We walked into the house. "Hannah! Forever! And friend!" Warren said. "Dad!" Hannah said hugging him. "Nice to see you again Warren." I said. "So what are you doing here?" He asked me. "I came to see Dom and Billy." I said. "You didn't come to see Elijah?" He asked. "Oh yeah, him too." I said in an oh-I-forgot-about-that-ass tone. "Oh, so you must be Billy, I suspect you were in The Lord of the Rings too?" He asked. "Yeah." Billy said. Elijah walked over and grabbed my hand, but I just pulled it out. "So dad, how's everything been?" Hannah asked. "Good, basically. Um…I'm still painting houses." He said. "That's good." Lij said putting his arm around me. I just moved to the other side of Billy. "So Hannah, anything going on relationship wise?" He asked. "Um…I'm dating, well, I'm dating Dom." She said. "That's good." He said. She just nodded. "You Elijah?" He asked. "Well, um…Eve and I are dating." He said. "Are you now?" He asked. I made a yeah-right snorting noise. They both looked over at me. "Excuse me, but I need to go kill myself." I mumbled the words kill myself. "Huh?" They asked. "See a friend, I said I need to go see a friend." I said walking away. Elijah ran after me. "Where are you going?" He hissed when we got outside. "Anywhere where I don't have to be near the tree and the stupid ass apple that fell from it!" I said. "What?" He asked. "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, it's a saying that is all too true for you." I said. "Are you saying I'm like my father?" He asked. "No shit sherlock! Ding, ding! We have a winner, let's give him a cookie!" I said. "Why would you say I'm like him?" He asked. "Because you are being a major ass. You never minded being called Lijey before." I said. "You know what? We fight all too often! I don't think this is going to work out." He said. "Fine! It's over, and I'm going home." I said. I walked into the house, and straight to Lij's room. Then I came out 15 minutes later with my bags all packed and a flight to Des Moines. "Where are you going?" Billy asked. "Home, will you drive me to the airport?" I asked. "Yeah, hold on, let me get my keys." He said walking to his rooms. Elijah walked in. "Bye Dom, don't wait 4 years to see me again, please." I said. "I wont, I'll come see you next month." He said giving me a hug. "And I'll see you later, when you come home?" I asked Hannah. "Of course." She said. "Bye Warren, it was nice seeing you again." I said. "You too." He said. Billy came back. "Let's go." He said. I waved good-bye. "Elijah." I said as I passed him. "Bye." He said. "I love you." He whispered inaudibly as I left.

In The Airport

"So you'll come live with me once you're done in California?" I asked. "You know it. I'll call you every night until then." He said. "I'll call you when I land." I said. I hugged him. "Take care of him." I said. "I will, take care of yourself." He said. "You do the same." I said. We hugged again then I left.

I got onto the plain, and sat quietly thinking. I remembered the weird bag I found when I was sitting down. I opened it seeing a wrapped package, a notebook, a photo of Billy, Dom, and I, and a candy bar. I pulled out the package. I pulled the wrapping paper off, a laptop. On the top cover was a sticky note that said:

I bought this not to long ago for you.
I decided this was the right time to give it to you.
Open it up, it's got wireless AOL! Go on! Try it.

I smiled. Billy was the best. I opened it up, and clicked onto AOL. I looked at the screen name it was Billyslittlegirl. I smiled. I signed on with the password that was on the sticky note. Not the password I would have picked at the moment, but it worked. My buddy list was set up with Billy, Dom, Mindy, Hannah, and Elijah's screen names. I had an E-mail too. I opened it. It was from Hannah and Dom. It said:

Little Girl,

Hi! Hope everything is going well on the plain. Billy told us what happened. We're really sorry. Lij is out drinking with Dad. We don't know where though. Billy told us that you us all to look after him, and we promise we will, but only if you look after yourself. We're going to let you go, but Billy says he loved you and to get on at 5 our time, we'll all chat then. Bye!

I smiled. I'm glad I made friends like Billy, Dom, and Hannah. The clock was set for their time. It said 4:30. I waited on till it was 5. They all got on at once. I smiled. I got invited into Hannah's buddy chat.

Hannah: Dad and Elijah are home

Hannah: We're back!
Dom: Singing are you? And have you been watching Flipper?
Forever: Hey! Yeah! I'm the bomb singer, and the dolphin rocks!
Billy: LoL! Yeah! Go dolphin!
Forever: I used to make fun of Lij because he was major skrawney in the movie! His shit was always off and he was so skinny! LoL!
Hannah: I remember that! He's got the ugliest hat in that movie! It's like a beanie
Forever: And all the Smashing Pumpkins shirts! I thought I was watching a Smashing Pumpkins infomercial! LoL! Well, he did wear a Chilly Peppers shirt too.
Hannah: LoL! He bought like half of them! I'm surprised he can't still wear them! He's still short and skinny!
Forever: Don't think he doesn't! I bet he puts them on and dances around his room at night!
Hannah: LoL!
Dom: Hannah, hun, look behind you
Billy: We'd all better go, we've been cought. I'll talk to you when you land! Bye!
