The Top 100 from 1997-2002
HERE it is: the definitive list of the top 100 best songs from the last five years. You will be surprised, guaranteed, by my picks, some of which you'll agree with and some of which you won't, but, no matter what I stand behind every last one of my choices firmly. Because this list isn't an influence chart, several of the biggest singles of the last five years are not listed here because they simply were not good enough to be included. The rules for this list are simple: the song had to have been released somewhere from January 1, 1997 to August 4, 2002 to count, and, predictably, some songs just barely made the cut either way. This list will be updated every year and re-posted around this time as well, so come back next year to see which 2003 currents had the ability to make the cut.
