  Q  What is the Work of CTF?

 

CTF implements and co-ordinates CTF community-based development    projects and activities.

  Q   How Does CTF Implement its Work?

CTF implements its work through its field bureaus which are based in its operational areas. Each field bureau has a field co-ordinator who leads a team of field officers and volunteers. All staff visit the IDP camps and villages on a regular basis and monitor the projects. CTF also relies on the active contribution of communities, and the Women’s Forum and Citizens Committee for Forcibly Evicted People (CCFEP). 

 Q   Where Does CTF Operate?

CTF operates in the following areas of Sri Lanka: Puttalam, Anuradhapura, Mannar, Vavuniya, Trincomalee, Kurunegala and Polonnaruwa. 

  Q   How is CTF Funded?

CTF receives funding from national and international donors and individuals. It also receives contributions through membership, donations and public fund raising. It makes savings by seeking and utilising the assistance of volunteers from the target communities. 

  Q   What is the Women's Forum?

The Women’s Forum is the section of CTF which works primarily with women across communities in CTF’s operational areas. It acts as an advisory body to women’s committees, CBOs and the CTF Board of Trustees on issues such as women’s rights, gender issues and gender empowerment as grass roots level. The range of projects and activities includes:

  • Research on health and cultural issues e.g. on the implications of females marrying underage

  • Awareness raising through the distribution of leaflets about the problems of the Dowry system

  • Conducting of Islamic classes with women in IDP camps 

  • Training on women’s leadership in villages in the Anuradhapura District

  • Conducting of awareness programmes on child rights

  Q   What is the Citizens Committee?

The Citizens Committee for Forcibly Evicted People (CCFEP), is the section of CTF which deals with human rights. It records human rights violations, implements human rights activities and provides advice on human rights in Sri Lanka. It also lobbies the government on these issues. CCFEP's work includes:

  • Consultation, Awareness Programme and Workshop    on Human Rights and Fundamental rights.
  • Gather IDP’s Public opinion regarding peace process and let it be known to the international community.
  • Requesting government to establish a committee to investigate on forcibly evicted peoples health condition and human rights violations.
  • Media Conference and Media Training for the IDP’s.
  • Peace Workshop
  • Paralegal Training
  • Research on IDP’s living condition.
  Q   How is CTF Structured? 

CTF is administered by a Board of Trustees (7) elected from a General Body of members. The Board is based in the Co-ordinating Secretariat (CS), currently located in Puttalam and is responsible for all dealings with donors and international and national agencies.

  Q   What is the Status of CTF?

CTF is registered with the Ministry of Social Services in Sri Lanka and is affiliated with the Consortium of Humanitarian Agencies (Sri Lanka), the National NGO Council of Sri Lanka, the Asian Cultural Forum on Development, the Asian Resource Foundation, the NGO for Water and Sanitation decade services, AMAN Asia, Youth General Assembly, International Youth Cooperation - Netherlands, Department of Public Information of United Nations (UNDPI), South Asia for Human Rights - Nepal and Pakistan, Forum Asia -Thailand,  AMDA - Japan, and the district consortiums of Puttalam, Mannar, Vavuniya, Anuradhapura and Trincomalee. CTF is a life member of the National Nature Farming Network funded by the UNDP

1st harvest at Noraichalai, Puttalam: one of CTF's (funded by ODA - Japan) income generation projects. In addition to receiving funding the farmers underwent training on agricultural techniques and advice on savings schemes.
