Comatose was formed in Sedalia, MO in the spring of 1999. The group
originated with founding members Chris Hess, Nick Benscoter, and Chris
Benscoter, all of which are with the band today. The only recent addition
is bassist, Evan Stratton.
The members of Comatose have always been influenced by the
harder end of the rock spectrum, as well as the talented end of the music
spectrum. Bands such as Shadows Fall, Metallica, Dream Theatre, Slayer,
and Pantera have all played a strong, but strictly influential role in the
development of Comatose's sound. It can be described as "powerful and
structural," as well as "melodic and unforgiving." The key to Comatose's
original sound is found in the roots of all the "good" music---Talent.
As of right now and for the past four years, the members of Comatose
have devoted their lives as far as they could. Comatose has worked very
hard to accomplish small goals in hopes of eventually accomplishing their
ultimate goal---Touring. They play at venues, clubs, bars, parties, and
everything in the Midwest area, planning to travel to farther places in the
near future. Their fan base is growing rapidly and is very loyal. Ever since
their first commercially released album "Destroying the Beautiful" was
released, greater opportunities have occurred. Mainstream and Rock radio
stations have picked up the album and has noted Comatose as one of the
most requested local bands around the area. The album was released by
Comatose in June under no label and have sold over 3000 copies.
Comatose is ready to be signed and released, as well as ready to go
on tour soon. Opening for National and International acts such as Taproot
and Revolution Smile have increased their experience and motivation
towards a career in music.
They will never stop until their goal is accomplished!
