Tropheus Brichardi
"Kipili"

Adult males do not have the full body banding they have only two bands near the head.
Thank you Cichlid Press and Ad Konings for allowing me to use your pictures.

I have to start this page off my saying THANK YOU to Chris and Carol of Living World Pets in Kennewick, WA.  They are the reason I have these fish and many others.  If you are ever in the Tri-cities be sure and stop by there store.

Tropheus as a rule should be kept in groups of 5 to 20 depending on the species and the size of your tank.  A group of 5 to 9 is, from what I have heard and read is A good number.  This species of Cichlids range from rambunctious to down right aggressive, so a species tank works best.  But if your like me you can't so make sure what ever you have in the tank with them can take care of themselves. Tanks should have lots of rocks and hiding places.  Large (up to 50%) water changes on a regular bases is a must for long term health.  (every 7 to 10 days is great).

Tank Size: 38 gallon
Tank Temp: 75 to 82
Tank pH: 8.0
Adult size:  5.5: (13.9 cm)

Breeding information:
I got my first fry on 06/24/2000
Maternal mouth brooder.  After spawning the female rejoins the group.  The incubation period is about 26 days although it is not uncommon for them to brood well beyond that time. See my breeding page for information about mouth brooders.
(NOTE: the above information was gathered from several sources.  This is the first time I have kept Tropheus and as I learn I will update this page.)
