Tropheus Duboisi
"White Band"

Thank you Cichlid Press and Ad Konings for allowing me to use your pictures.

This is my first try with this species and I am not sure yet how it is going to go.  I am getting these fish from a local store (Chris and Carol's living world pets in Kennewick, WA) who got them from Wet Thumb Aquatics. (see links page)  This is an aggressive species of Cichlid and should be kept in groups of at least 6 fish.  You can, I have read and heard, put Duboisi in with Tropheus Moorii and Tropheus Brichardi without the fear of cross breeding.  I am sure there are many people that would disagree with this but I have always mixed fish and if there is even a chance of species cross breeding I split them up.  Time will tell.

Tank Size: 20 gallon high
Tank Temp: 78 to 82
Tank pH: 8.0
Adult Size: males and females both 5.5" or 13.9 cm

Breeding information:

This is a mouth brooding species and they only have between 6 and 12 fry per batch.  The reason for the small batch is the parent fish can care for the fry longer so there is a better survival rate.  Please check my Breeding page for information on mouth brooders.  One think I have read is you do not want to strip this genius of Cichlid as they might not breed again. (see breeding page for information on Stripping fish)
