Telmatochromis
Vittatus "Zambia"

Thank you Cichlid Press and Ad Konings for allowing me to use your pictures.

This fish are a really shy and quiet fish.  It just keeps to its self and leaves everyone else along.  They should not be kept with aggressive Cichlids as they will not survive.  Mine like to use shells to hide in and they also spawned in the shell.  I only got one batch of fry and they did not make it because I had them in a community tank and they where just not tough enough to fight off the other fish.  This fish also reminds me of the Julidochromis genius in shape and size.  Breeding pairs should be kept alone or with very mellow cichlids.  I keep 4 different Julidochromis Cichlids so I decided to get rid of the Vittatus as they look so much like the Julie's.

Adult size:  8.6 cm

Breeding Information:
This is a shell or cave spawning Cichlid.  See my breeding page for more information.
