Pseudotropheus
Crabo
"Bumble Bee Cichlid"

Thank you Cichlid Press and Ad Konings for allowing me to use your pictures.

What can I say about this Cichlids, it is a great community fish and can hold it's own against others.  It has a very nice color pattern and looks great with solid colored fish.  These are another Lake Malawi mouth brooder, see my breeding page for information on mouth brooding.  You can also sex these fish by venting them, see venting link below.  I was never able to get any fry from my Crabo's but I guess I cannot have everything my way.  LOL  Make sure you have lots of rocks and hiding places as this species likes to hide out.  It should be kept in tanks of about 45 gallons or more and kept in groups of about 6 or so.  Its always a good idea with any mouth brooding fish to keep 3 or more females per male.  Some times the males get over excited about matting and kill the females.

Adult size: 6" or 15 cm
