Thank you Cichlid Press and Ad Konings for allowing me to use your pictures.

I am setting up another Lake Malawi tank and I got 5 of these guys (from a local store Chris and Carols living world pets in Kennewick, WA.)  They are all about 2.5" and look great. This is a great community Cichlids, as long as you do not put them in with mellow fish.  They can be aggressive but in with like Zebra's, lemon yellows, peacocks ect the do very well.  The pattern of this fish is what first made me get them.  It was a bit different from the other Malawi Cichlids I had seen. You can sex these fish when young by Venting them. (see link below on Venting)

Tank size: 80 gallon long
Tank Temp: 78 to 82
Tank pH: 8.0
Adult size:  25.0 cm

Breeding information:
This is a mouth brooding Cichlid. (see breeding page for information on mouth brooding) It is important with most mouth brooders to keep a few females per male.  The male will always try to breed (now that sounds like a typical guy LOL) and if there is more than one female is attention is spread out.  One poor female could be killed my the male.  When adults the male gets a blue head and the female stays the same color as when young.
