Neolamprologus
Multifasciatus
Thank you Cichlid Press and
Ad Konings for allowing me to use your pictures.
This is a tough shell dweller that has done great in a community tank
with other Tanganyika Cichlids. When they spawn the female and male both
guard the young and they remove all gravel away from there shell.
So if you plan on getting these great little fish do not have a underground
filter system. I have ordered more of these little guys from Wet
Thumb Aquatics (see links page) I have a total of 11
of these great little shell dwellers.
Tank size: 20 gallon long also a small group in a 5 gallon
Tank Temp: 78 to 82
Tank pH: 8.0
Adult size: 4.0 cm
Breeding Information:
Both the male and female protect the spawning site as well as the fry.
The male is larger than the female and is very aggressive towards all other
fish when they have fry. For best results a breeding pair should
be kept by themselves so the fry as well as the breeding pair don't get
killed by larger and more aggressive fish. A ten gallon tank is great
for a pair of these neat little shell dwellers. Sexing these is like
most Tanganyika spawners you need to wait until they are adults and go
by size. The other way is called Venting, see the link below for
information on that.
