Neolamprologus
Leleupi "Yellow"

Thank you Cichlid Press and Ad Konings for allowing me to use your pictures.

The top  picture is of my male, the bottom picture you can see the female poking her head out of her spawning cave..  This is another great community fish as they are not really aggressive.  I have had Leleupi breed in the community but they are not a very aggressive parent fish and I lost most of the fry.  The color of this fish gets brighter when breeding.  This is a cave spawning fish, and the entrance to the cave must be very small. They like to just be able to wiggle into the opening.

Filtration: 1 - 30 gallon community tank. raising 3 of my juveniles also raising 3 juveniles I just got.
Tank Temp; 78 to 82
Tank pH: 8.0
Fish size when adult - 4.5" (11 cm)

Breeding Information:

I have had several batches of fry from this pair of beautiful fish.  Like I have stated earlier they are not a very aggressive fish unless it another Leleupi.  When breeding this fish you should keep in mind that even a breeding pair does not stay very close to each other.  This pair is breeding in a 20 gallon long tank, but I have a cave at each end of the tank and rocks in the center.  The male will help defend the fry and the breeding area but he must have his own place.  The male and female will fight and they have been known to kill each other even after spawning.  Just be aware that the tank I am using to breed these fish in so far is working out.  I did not far so well with my Dutch Orange Leleupi the male did kill the female after there fry started coming out of the cave.  Something else to keep in mind with Leleupi.  Older batches of fry will eat new batches so you must remove the older fry before the female spawns again.
