Lamprologus
Caudopunctatus "Redfin"

Thank you Cichlid Press and Ad Konings for allowing me to use your pictures.

I just received 7 of these fish via "The Cichlid Exchange" on 08/20/99 (see links page). So far what I can say is this fish likes to school.  They are always together and seem to be getting along well with other tank mates. A lot of people refer to this little guys as a shell dweller because of its size.  I have read that they are shell spawners but are not really a shell dweller. I got another 5 of these little guys on 09/15/99 I just could not leave them at the store any longer. As of 12/10/1999 I have 3 breeding pair.

Tank size: 10 gallon
Tank Temp: 78 to 80
Tank pH: 8.0
Fish size when adults - 3" (7.6 cm)

Breeding Information:
This is a shell spawning Cichlid  they like to have lots of rocks around the shell they spawn in.  This little fish are great parent fish against fish there own size but have a hard time with larger Cichlids.  I have noticed that they change colors when defending A shell.  They take on a blotchy color with darker almost a reddish tint to them.  The top fin on  the male is brighter and the fish is a little bigger. Another way to tell the sex of the fish is by Venting them.  See link below for information on Venting. I do not vent any fish as I do not want to stress the fish out.  I still get about 6 fish and let nature take its course and hope for a pair.
