Labidochromis
"sp. Perlmutt"

Thank you Cichlid Press and Ad Konings for allowing me to use your pictures.

This is a new fish for me, I got them from a local store (Chris and Carol's living world pets in Kennewick, WA) they got them from Wet Thumb Aquatics. (see links page)  This fish is very much like the popular Labidochromis Caeruleus "Lemon or Electric Yellow".  In my opinion this fish could pass for an albino of the lemon yellow.  I don't have any other information to give you at this time but I will update this page as I learn.  Please check my Lemon Yellow page for species information.

Tank Size: 30 gallon long
Tank Temp: 78 to 82
Tank pH: 8.0
Adult Size: 6" or 15 cm male and 4" or 10 cm female

Breeding information:

If these fish are anything like there Lemon Yellow cousins they will be very prolific breeders. Sexing these fish is not very hard the males Pectoral and Anal fins are solid black and the females are either solid white or trimmed in black.  The Dorsal fin on both males and females are trimmed in black but the males have a wider and darker trim.  It is tough to tell them apart until they are around 2" to 2.5" long.  These are a mouth brooding Cichlid and should be kept in groups of 1 male to 3 or more females.  The reason for this is the male can be aggressive when he wants to breed and the more females you have the more the aggression is spread out.  This way one poor female is not beat up and in some cases killed by the male.
