This is another nice looking Haplochromis from Lake Victoria. While the color is not as flashy as many other species it is still a nice looking fish. This fish does enjoy eating algae as well as insect larvae but does well on Cichlid flake food. In the wild this is a largely shallow water species, with the highest densities in depths of 2.5 to 4.5 meters. They like to have lots of rocks to hide around and under also they will eat any algae that grows on them. From what I have read it seems to be a fairly calm Cichlid but care should be given to keep several females per male. Many Haplochromis males are very aggressive with the females and the more females you have the less chance of a male killing one of them.
