Paul Thorn - Short Street Package Store (2000)

Many solo performers will tell you that it isn't easy being alone on stage, with only your talent to protect you from your doubts. Just how good can one performer, with one guitar, sound? In the case of Paul Thorn's Live CD "Short Street Package Store", the answer is... Pretty Darn Good!

After the previous studio album, (Ain't Love Strange) I think this CD is a pretty gutsy move by Thorn. Most live performance CD's released these days feature full band's, after numerous rehearsals, recorded over several shows. But Short Street Package Store is bare bones music in it's purest form... just Paul Thorn, his Guitar, and His incredible Talent.

Just one listen to this CD will convince you that in Paul Thorn, you have found something special. His easy going style, flawless delivery, and dry southern wit holds you hard, like a spell. And he does this without big production or mutli tracking. He does it with pure talent, and homey charm.

This album can tear at the heart, while it smacks at your funny bone, and leave you wanting more. It identifies Paul Thorn as a rare talent, with limitless potential.
