list of other exciting projects |
| This
project's primary aim is to develop positive playground environments, through
email and class collaboration, students can teach others their favourite
games and teachers can share successful strategies for peer mediation and
various playground programs.
There are two
parts to the project, the first aims to provide students with the opportunity
to exchange information, with school's locally and globally, about playground
games, learn some new ones or variations on their favourites and even investigate
the origins of games. Secondly we aim, to support teachers with new and
innovative playground programs by providing a forum for teachers to share
strategies, exchange ideas, develop new programs and collaborate to solve
common problems.
Schools all around
the world experience similar difficulties in their playgrounds. Children
having a limited repertoire of games to play, unsafe playing habits, bullying,
children becoming bored in the playground (often leading to inappropriate
behaviour) and wet lunch hours can create chaos and difficulties in the
playground.
Share your
favourite playground games, teach others new games and learn some new ones.

Plains
Cree Indian Games
|
Just
a few short years ago, there existed no readily accessible resources on
the First Nations of the Great Plains. The pioneering work done by institutions
like the Saskatchewan Indian Cultural Center in the late 70s and 80s were
important first steps. Now Nutana Collegiate Institute is pleased to be
a part of the next generation of informational resources - available on
on the Internet. |

'Games
Kids Play'
An amazing
collection of hundred's of games from the USA and around the world!
|
Remember
all those games you played as kid out in the backyard? Where did the those
rules come from? Obviously
there was no "official" rule book, just knowledge passed down from older
kids to younger kids.
The purpose of
this award winning site is two-fold;
- One, to let
you remember some of those odd games we used to play and bring a smile
to your face.
- Two, to try
to catalog a fascinating piece of oral tradition, and make sure none of
these games are lost forever. |

Sriwittayapaknam
School, Thailand
|
A school
site with lots of Playground games. Here's what the students say:
"Many of the
games that our students play in the school playground are recognisable
the world over: skipping, football, tag and marbles. Some of these have
the same rules but different names: are you familiar with the game "Piggy
in the middle" where someone standing in-between two other players has
to try and grab hold of the ball? In Thai it is called Ling Ching Bon -
"Monkey Snatches Ball". The person who plays "it", or ben in Thai, is often
chosen using a familiar game called "rock, scissors, paper". In Thai it
is called Bao Ying Choob and has the same rules."
